INTRODUCTION

In this chapter of Mark 15, we see how Jesus was brought before Pilate by the crowd to be questioned, condemned, humiliated, and even crucified for a crime He did not commit.

1 — False Accusations Against Jesus: Mark 15:1–11

They had decided to humiliate Jesus even though He had done nothing wrong.

Pilate asked Jesus if He was the King of the Jews. Jesus simply replied, “You say so.”

The chief priests accused Him of many things, yet they failed to convince Pilate of His guilt.

Pilate asked Jesus again: “Do you not answer anything? See how many things they testify against you.”

But Jesus did not answer a single word, which greatly amazed Pilate and likely unsettled him, for he would have liked to hear the defense of the accused in order to make a judgment.

Jesus’ Attitude in the Face of Accusations

Jesus’ attitude when facing accusations was calm, resigned, and silent. It was also marked by dignity amid mistreatment and obedient love.

Jesus is the Son of God, who came to earth to save us, deliver us, set us free, and give us eternal life.He also fulfilled the prophecies spoken about Him long ago.

Thus, we are called to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, to resemble Him in every way, in order to accomplish the Father’s plan — which is primarily to advance the Kingdom.

We must place the spiritual interests of the Kingdom above everything else.

Ref: Matthew 16:24

2 — The Second Point

  • The trial of Jesus and His condemnation

  • His crucifixion,

  • The mockery He endured,

  • His death, etc.

All these sacrifices that Jesus made for us are demonstrations of love for every believer. He shrank back from nothing but went to the cross with dignity for us.

Therefore, it is time for you and me to rise today,to have zeal and courage,to speak of the goodness of Jesus,His ultimate love for humanity, and His perfect will that all be saved.

So rise in obedience.Rise in love, patience, and compassion, and advance the Kingdom of God with all your strength.

PRAYER

Lord, increase in us the desire to want more of You.Give us the zeal to work tirelessly for the advancement of Your Kingdom.Holy Spirit, give us the strength to place God’s plan for humanity above our own. Help us prioritize the service of the Father above all things and bring the lost sheep back to You through the gospel. In Jesus’ name

Amen.

Having said this prayer, I have little more to add, except that this should be our greatest desire and longing: that His love be known and spread throughout the earth. And if we are persecuted, let us act like Jesus, with steadfastness and without wavering. He has victory in his situation and has strengthened the Holy Spirit.
