DAY 2: OVERCOMING THE DESTRUCTIVE FORCES OF ACCUSATION AGAINST THE CHURCH

29. October 2026

Devotion by Reverend Joseph Antwi

Three Days of Fasting & Prayer

THEME: LET THY KINGDOM COME

SUBTHEME: HONOUR

TOPIC: Silencing Accusation and Restoring Honour to the Body of Christ

MAIN SCRIPTURES: Revelation 12:10–11; Romans 8:33–34 (NKJV)

Please take your time to read this devotion and underline the Bible verses in your Bible as you go along. Allow about 30 minutes to read the devotion and Scriptures thoughtfully, reflecting on what God is teaching you through His Word.

1. THE ACCUSER OF THE BRETHREN

Revelation 12:10 describes Satan as “the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night.” One of the enemy’s strategies is to accuse, condemn, and discredit believers, particularly those entrusted with spiritual leadership. His goal is to damage relationships, discourage leaders, weaken the Church, and destroy its testimony.

We see a similar picture in Zechariah 3:1–2, where Satan stands to accuse Joshua the high priest, but the Lord rebukes him.

Accusation can come through false reports, gossip, distorted information, or the exaggeration of genuine mistakes. While we must never use spiritual warfare as an excuse to avoid accountability, we must also recognise that the enemy can exploit our weaknesses to bring condemnation and division.

2. THE DANGER OF ACCUSATION AGAINST THE CHURCH

A. Accusation Weakens Unity

Jesus said in Mark 3:25, “And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”

Accusations create suspicion, break trust, and cause people to take sides. Instead of advancing the Gospel, the Church becomes occupied with internal conflict. We must therefore protect the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:3).

B. Accusation Discourages Believers and Leaders

Romans 8:33 asks, “Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.”

As a pastor, I have personally experienced accusations, and to be honest, many of them have been completely false. However, I have also recognised that some situations arose from my own mistakes—words or actions that could have been avoided. They were not intentional, but they opened doors that the enemy exploited.

As I often remind myself, we are all working out our salvation with fear and trembling. The difference is that, as pastors, we carry greater responsibilities because of the anointing and grace God has entrusted to us. As we mature in Christ and in ministry, God can use even our mistakes to teach us, refine us, and shape our character.

I have seen how the enemy can take a genuine mistake, twist words, and exaggerate a situation until an accusation becomes difficult to defend against. The enemy has not changed his schemes. He seeks to target spiritual leaders and use accusations to weaken the Church. Sometimes, the attacks do not even come from outside; they come through people within the Church.

But glory be to God, who opens our eyes to recognise the schemes of the enemy! We must remain humble enough to acknowledge our mistakes, courageous enough to stand in the truth, and united enough not to allow accusations to destroy the work of God.

C. Accusation Damages the Church’s Testimony

Jesus said in John 13:35, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

When slander, bitterness, and division take over, the Church’s testimony is weakened. We must pursue honourable conduct before those who do not believe (1 Peter 2:12), demonstrating the character of Christ even in difficult situations.

3. OVERCOMING ACCUSATION THROUGH THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB

Revelation 12:11 declares, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”

Our victory is in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, we receive forgiveness, redemption, and justification before God.

This does not mean ignoring our mistakes. When we are wrong, we must repent and make things right where possible. When accusations are false or distorted, we must stand firmly in the truth and entrust ourselves to God.

Romans 8:34 reminds us that Christ died, rose again, and is now at the right hand of God, interceding for us. Therefore, we must not allow accusations to silence our witness or distract us from our Kingdom assignment.

4. RESTORING HONOUR TO THE BODY OF CHRIST

Christ loves the Church and gave Himself for her (Ephesians 5:25–27). We must therefore protect and preserve the integrity of His Body.

Restoring honour does not mean hiding wrongdoing. It means upholding truth and accountability while rejecting malicious accusations, slander, and unnecessary humiliation. Our correction must seek restoration, not destruction.

Ephesians 4:29 teaches us to speak words that build others up and impart grace to those who hear.

Let us refuse to spread unverified information, participate in destructive conversations, or use the weaknesses of others to discredit them. Instead, let us walk in truth, humility, love, and accountability.

As we pray for God’s Kingdom to come, let us stand together to protect and preserve the integrity of the Church, so that through the Church, the manifold wisdom of God may be made known to principalities and powers (Ephesians 3:10).

PRAYER POINTS

1. Thanksgiving: Hannah’s Prayer of Thanksgiving

Father, like Hannah, we thank You for Your faithfulness, answered prayers, and the victories You have given us. We acknowledge that there is none holy like You, and there is no Rock like our God. (1 Samuel 2:1–2)

2. Prayer for Our District Pastor and Leadership

Father, strengthen our District Pastor and all our leaders with wisdom, discernment, humility, and grace. Protect them from the schemes of the enemy, preserve their integrity, and empower them to lead Your people according to Your will. (1 Timothy 2:1–2; James 1:5)

3. Against the Accuser of the Brethren

Father, strengthen Your Church to stand firm against the accusations of the enemy through the victory of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 12:10–11)

4. For Truth and Integrity

Lord, purify Your Church from dishonesty, hypocrisy, corruption, and every conduct that dishonours Your name. (1 Peter 1:15–16)

5. Against Slander and False Witness

Father, expose false accusations and help believers reject gossip, slander, and the spread of unverified information. (Proverbs 6:16–19)

6. For Restoration and Healing

Lord, heal wounds caused by accusations and conflicts within the Church. Restore relationships where there is repentance, truth, and a willingness to reconcile. (Ephesians 4:31–32)

7. For Courage Under Opposition

Father, strengthen Christians facing persecution, misrepresentation, or unjust accusations. Help them remain steadfast in Christ. (1 Peter 3:14–16)

8. For a Church That Honours Christ

Lord, let Your Church reflect Jesus through holiness, love, humility, justice, and good works, so that our testimony will glorify You. Let Your manifold wisdom be revealed through the Church to principalities and powers. (Matthew 5:14–16; Ephesians 3:10)
