📖Devotional on 1 Corinthians 11
⸻
Be Imitators of Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1–2)
The Apostle Paul was teaching the Corinthians church to walk orderly and to keep the ordinance and the traditions of the church.Verse 1, Paul was telling the church to follow his example as he also imitate Christ who is the head of church, which means everyone who believes Jesus as his Lord must imitate Jesus for he is the author and finisher of our Christian faith. In Verse 2 Paul continue to elaborate how they should live and respect God order and his authority.
⸻
God’s Order in the Church (1 Corinthians 11:3)
Apostle Paul wanted the churches to know the head of every man in the kingdom of God is Jesus Christ, and the head of every woman and family is man and the head of Christ is God.
When we come together as church we have Christ as our head, then come the church authorities which is the head Pastors and the Elders and church officers who run the church in order the name of to be glorified.
⸻
The Purpose of the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11:23–34)
This is really interesting to me because Paul the Apostle begins explaining by starting with church divisions and conflict among the believers. Paul knew that one of the purposes and effects the Lords supper has, when done correctly is restoration among God's people. When the Lord supper is done right, unity love and forgiveness will be the outcome. If the Lords supper is done with the right attitude and mind, you should be motivated to seek forgiveness to those who have hurt you worship through the Lords supper festive should make us more gracious.
As we take the Lords supper we need to ask their forgiveness, if there is there is a need to make it right as soon as we can. And as we remember the death of Jesus Christ and think about how it restore and and reconciled us to God, it should drive us to restore and reconcile with others.
So when we take the Lords supper look around how some people are being restored. We are to look back and remember, when we take the Lords supper we must look back and remember 1 Corinthians 11:24-25, when the Lord said it reminds us of His death, the Lords supper is all about remembering our Lord Jesus and His death. To remember the sacrifice he made for every generation, we remember the pain He went through it was all because of our sins and transgressions.
⸻
Remembering the Cross
We should remember the love shown to us on the cross of cavalry, more over the redemption from hell fire.
Any time we eat the Lords supper proclaim his suffering and death.
⸻
Prayer
“Lord Jesus, I thank You for being the Head of the Church and the Lord of my life. Help me to walk in Your example and to honor the order You have set in my life. Teach me to live in humility, respect, and love toward others.
As I remember Your sacrifice through the Lord’s Supper, cleanse my heart from bitterness and unforgiveness. Restore me to unity with my brothers and sisters, just as You have reconciled me to God.
Let my life proclaim Your death and resurrection until You come again. I surrender myself to You, Lord, and I desire to live in Your peace, Your grace, and Your love. Amen.”
Amen,
