📖 Scripture Reading1 Corinthians 13 – The Way of Love
💡 Devotional Thought1 Corinthians 13 is often read at weddings, but Paul’s words go much deeper than romance. He was writing to a divided, gifted, but spiritually immature church in Corinth. They were rich in talents, spiritual gifts, and knowledge but poor in love. Paul reminds them (and us) that without love, everything we do loses its value.
Love is not a feeling; it is an action. Paul describes it as patient, kind, humble, forgiving, and enduring. Love never seeks its own way, never gives up, and never fails. It is the heartbeat of God Himself, because God is love (1 John 4:8).
Faith looks upward, hope looks forward, but love looks outward. Love is what makes our faith visible and our hope meaningful. When we walk in love, we reflect Christ to the world.
So the question for us today is: Are my actions, words, and even my service rooted in love—or am I doing them for recognition, habit, or personal gain? Love is the measure that remains when everything else fades.
🔎 Personal Reflection Questions
Where am I struggling to show love in my daily life (home, work, church, relationships)?
Do I value gifts, talents, or success more than love?
How can I make love the foundation of all I do today?
🙏 Prayer
Heavenly Father,Thank You for reminding me through Your Word that love is the greatest gift. Teach me to love as You love—patiently, kindly, and without selfishness. Forgive me when I have put talents, knowledge, or personal desires above love. Fill me with Your Spirit so that my faith is expressed through love and my hope is anchored in You. Help me to be a reflection of Christ’s love in my words, actions, and thoughts today.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
