🕊️ Meditation: Order, Love, and Spiritual Gifts

📖 Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 14

1. Speaking in Tongues and the Prophecy of Christ

Whoever speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God.

"For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit."(1 Corinthians 14:2,)

Speaking in tongues was prophesied by Christ along with other miraculous signs:

"And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."(Mark 16:17-18, )

2. Preaching Truth Rather than Chaos

Preaching the truth is far better than a scene of chaos, not only for believers but also because it places non-believers in the presence of God and before His Word, which has the potential to lead them to deep inner conviction, repentance, and salvation.

3. God’s Order in Creation and in the Church

The Creator of heaven and earth established the physical laws that govern the universe; He did the same in the spiritual realm and therefore in the Church. Not just anyone should do anything, anywhere, anytime. God desires that everything be done in love, order, and peace, which are attributes in accordance with His character.

"For God is not a God of disorder but of peace." (1 Corinthians 14:33, NIV)

4. Practical Application

🔹 Desiring Spiritual Gifts

Paul encourages desiring spiritual gifts, especially prophecy, because they are given by the Spirit of God.

"Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy."(1 Corinthians 14:1, NIV)

🔹 Using Gifts for Others

Gifts should not be used for personal gain but for the benefit of the Christian community, particularly to strengthen, encourage, and comfort believers.

"But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouragement, and comfort."(1 Corinthians 14:3, NIV)

🔹 Maintaining Order

Assemblies should be organized to avoid disorder, preventing interference and allowing an orderly expression of gifts.

"But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way."(1 Corinthians 14:40)

✨ Conclusion

God established order in creation as well as in His Church. Spiritual gifts are a blessing when exercised in love and peace. Therefore, let us seek the gifts of the Spirit but use them to build up others—in love, order, and peace.

🙏 Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, We thank You for the gifts of Your Spirit and for the order You have established in creation and in Your Church. Help us to desire these gifts, especially prophecy, and to use them for the edification, encouragement, and comfort of others. May everything we do be guided by love, peace, and order, reflecting Your perfect character. Fill our hearts with Your Spirit, so that our words and actions bring glory to You and draw others closer to Your truth. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
