Devotion by Reverend Joseph Antwi

Theme: Raising Spirit-Filled Disciples for the Unleashing Agenda

The Holy Spirit, Power, and the Birth of a Witnessing Church

Acts 2:1–39

Opening Reflection

Praise the Lord, church.

I am so excited that we are back to a regular devotion, where we are intentionally entering into the Word of God—reading Scripture verse by verse, underlining, and receiving personal reflections of what God is speaking to us.

Before you read any devotion, begin with a moment of prayer and intimacy. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your ears and eyes. When Scripture is read carnally, it may feel dry—but when read with the Spirit, it becomes alive (John 6:63).

The surest prophetic word we have is the Word of God (2 Peter 1:19). So let us read with reverence and expectation.

1. The Meaning and Timing of Pentecost (Acts 2:1)

Pentecost occurred 50 days after Passover and was known as the Feast of Weeks or Firstfruits. It symbolized thanksgiving for the harvest and faith for more to come.

In Acts 2, Pentecost became the firstfruits of the Church—the beginning of a global harvest of souls.

Reflection

👉 Am I aware that God has called me to be part of His end-time harvest, not just a church attendee?

2. Unity Precedes Outpouring (Acts 2:1)

They were in one place and in one accord. The Holy Spirit came where there was obedience, unity, and expectation.

God releases power where hearts are aligned, not scattered.

Reflection

👉 Is my heart aligned with God’s purpose and with His people, or am I spiritually present but inwardly divided?

3. The Holy Spirit Comes with Manifest Power (Acts 2:2–4)

The Spirit came with sound, fire, and utterance. Fire rested on each person—this was a personal encounter.

Speaking in tongues was not learned or forced; it was Spirit-enabled.

Not every physical reaction is demonic—many are signs of divine impartation.

Reflection

👉 Do I hunger for a genuine encounter with the Holy Spirit, or am I afraid of how God may move in my life?

4. God’s Power Is Released Strategically for the Nations (Acts 2:5–11)

Jerusalem was filled with people from many nations. God intentionally poured out His Spirit when the nations were present.

They heard the gospel in their own languages, declaring the wonderful works of God.

Reflection

👉 Do I see my environment—workplace, city, or church—as a mission field God has strategically placed me in?

5. Revival Always Produces Division (Acts 2:12–13)

Some were amazed and curious. Others mocked and accused.

Revival exposes hearts—some are drawn, others resist.

Reflection

👉 How do I respond when God moves powerfully—do I stay humble and hungry, or do I become critical and skeptical?

6. Spirit-Filled Disciples Preach Scripture with Boldness (Acts 2:14–21)

Peter, once fearful, now stood boldly and preached Scripture, quoting Joel 2:28–32.

Boldness is not personality—it is the result of Spirit-filling.

Reflection

👉 Is my confidence rooted in my personality, or in the power of the Holy Spirit working through me?

7. The Gospel Is Christ-Centered and Spirit-Empowered (Acts 2:22–36)

Peter preached Christ’s:

• Life

• Death

• Resurrection

• Exaltation

Conviction did not come from eloquence, but from the Spirit of God.

Reflection

👉 When I serve God, do I seek recognition for myself, or do I give the Holy Spirit room to do the work?

8. Conviction Produces Repentance and Salvation (Acts 2:37–39)

The people were cut to the heart and asked, “What shall we do?”

Peter answered: Repent, be baptized, and receive the Holy Spirit.

This promise is for all—near and far.

Hell is real. Salvation is urgent.

Reflection

👉 Do I carry a genuine burden for souls, knowing what people are saved from—not just what they are saved into?

Final Exhortation

When the Holy Spirit fills you:

• Fear loses power

• Boldness rises

• Witness becomes natural

Peter moved from denial to declaration.

Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you daily (Ephesians 5:18).

Reflection

👉 What fear or limitation do I need the Holy Spirit to empower me to overcome?

Closing Prayer

Father in heaven, thank You for Your Word. Let this devotion transform lives. Holy Spirit, fill us daily—at work, in school, and in our families. Let boldness rise and souls be saved through us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Personal Prayer

Jesus, fill me with Your Spirit. Let the fire that fell on the apostles rest upon me. Use me for Your Kingdom. Amen.

Instruction & Blessing

Please share your reflection both in the group chat and on the website, so others may be blessed.

May the Lord grant you a Spirit-filled, bold, and fruitful day.

Shalom with love

Reverend Joseph
