Preparing Our Hearts for God’s Final Victory

1. The Song of Moses and the Lamb

Revelation 15:1–4

Church, as we come to Revelation 15, we arrive at one of the shortest chapters in the Book of Revelation, yet it carries one of the most powerful messages. Before God pours out the final bowls of His wrath in Revelation 16, He pauses once again to show John a glorious scene in heaven. This reminds us that before every act of God’s judgment, He first reveals His glory, His holiness, and the victory of His people.

John writes:

“Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete.”

Notice the words “the wrath of God is complete.” Church, God is patient, merciful, gracious, and compassionate, but there comes a moment when His righteous judgment is fully revealed. Throughout Revelation we have repeatedly seen God calling people to repentance, yet many continue to reject Him. This chapter reminds us that God’s patience should never be mistaken for His approval of sin. He is longsuffering, but He is also perfectly just.

John then sees something remarkable:

“And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire…”

Earlier in Revelation we saw the sea of glass before God’s throne, representing His holiness, purity, and majesty. Now it is mingled with fire, reminding us that God is not only holy but also the righteous Judge of all the earth.

Standing beside this sea are those who had gained victory over the beast, over his image, over his mark, and over the number of his name.

Church, this is one of the most comforting truths in Revelation. These are ordinary believers who remained faithful to Jesus Christ despite every pressure to compromise. They overcame the beast, refused his mark, and stood firm in their faith. Their victory reminds us that God has never destined His people for defeat but for victory through Christ.

How did they overcome? Revelation has already given us the answer:

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” (Revelation 12:11)

Church, our victory is not found in our own strength, wisdom, or ability. Our victory is found in the finished work of Jesus Christ. It is through the blood of the Lamb that our sins are forgiven, Satan’s accusations are defeated, and we receive the grace to remain faithful until the very end.

Therefore, let this chapter comfort every believer. No matter how fierce the opposition becomes, God has already revealed the final outcome. The saints overcome. The Church overcomes. Those who remain faithful to Jesus Christ will stand victoriously before His throne, worshipping Him forever.

Church, I love that word—victory.

The beast did not have the final word.

Persecution did not have the final word.

Death did not have the final word.

Jesus had the final word.

Sometimes serving God is not easy. Sometimes living a holy life makes us stand out from the crowd. Sometimes obeying God costs us friendships, opportunities, or comfort. Yet Revelation reminds us that faithfulness is never wasted. Those who remain faithful will one day stand before the Lord in victory.

The Bible says they held harps given to them by God and sang the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb.

The song of Moses reminds us of God’s great deliverance of Israel through the Red Sea (Exodus 15), while the song of the Lamb reminds us of our redemption through the cross of Jesus Christ. One celebrates freedom from Pharaoh, and the other celebrates freedom from sin. Both songs proclaim the same truth: God saves His people.

Their song declares:

“Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints!”

Notice that heaven never questions God’s justice. Heaven celebrates it. Everything God does is righteous, holy, faithful, and true.

2. The Holiness of God Revealed

Revelation 15:5–8

John’s attention now turns toward the heavenly temple.

He writes:

“After these things I looked, and behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened.”

Church, this reminds us that the earthly tabernacle Moses built was only a shadow of a greater heavenly reality. Everything God instructed Moses to build pointed toward His eternal dwelling place and His glorious presence.

Seven angels come out of the temple clothed in pure, bright linen with golden sashes around their chests. Their clothing reflects purity, holiness, and the righteousness of God’s judgments. One of the four living creatures then gives the seven angels seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God.

Notice once again that the bowls are given to the angels. Throughout Revelation we repeatedly see divine order in heaven. No angel acts independently. Everything happens according to God’s perfect authority, timing, and purpose.

Church, this teaches us an important lesson. Our God is never a God of confusion. Heaven functions with order, obedience, and submission to God’s will. Our homes, our families, our ministries, and our churches should also reflect that same spirit of godly order.

John then records something very striking:

“The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.”

Throughout Scripture, smoke often represents the manifest presence and glory of God. When Moses dedicated the tabernacle and when Solomon dedicated the temple, the glory of the Lord filled the house so powerfully that no one could minister because of His presence.

Church, Revelation reminds us once again that our God is holy. He is loving, merciful, gracious, and compassionate, but He is also the righteous Judge of all the earth. One day every knee will bow before Him, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Life Application

Revelation 15 reminds us that God’s people are ultimately a victorious people. The world may see temporary suffering, but heaven sees eternal victory.

Let us continue to worship even in difficult seasons.

Let us remain faithful even when obedience is costly.

Let us remember that God’s justice is perfect, His timing is perfect, and His promises never fail.

One day every battle will end.

Every tear will be wiped away.

Every faithful believer will stand before the throne, singing not only the song of Moses but also the song of the Lamb.

May we be among those who overcome by the blood of the Lamb, remain faithful to His Word, and joyfully await the glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer Points

1. Thank God for the victory we have through Jesus Christ. Pray that you will continually overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony, remaining faithful regardless of the trials or pressures you may face.

2. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you live a holy and obedient life. Pray that your character, your family, and your service to God will reflect His holiness and righteousness each day.

3. Pray for Fortified City Church, Love City Church, and the Body of Christ around the world. Ask God to strengthen believers who are experiencing persecution and give them grace to overcome through unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.

4. Pray that your life will continually be filled with worship and thanksgiving. Ask the Lord to prepare your heart for His return so that one day you too may stand before His throne and join the redeemed in singing the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb.
