Theme: Serving God with your time, tithes and offering

Hello Church!

Welcome to the new month of July!

I pray that you are excited for what the Lord has in store for us. Throughout the previous month, we journeyed together through the Book of Revelation under the theme “Living in Anticipation of the Return of Jesus Christ Our Messiah.” Day after day, the Lord reminded us to remain watchful, holy, and prepared for His glorious return.

As we enter this new month, we are not leaving Revelation behind. Rather, we are building upon everything the Holy Spirit has been teaching us. Our new monthly theme is:

“Serving God with Our Time, Tithes, and Offerings.”

As we continue our journey through Revelation, we will discover that these are not merely subjects about church attendance or finances. They are expressions of worship, stewardship, and wholehearted devotion to God.

Our time is one of God’s greatest gifts. Every day He gives us is an opportunity to seek Him, serve others, grow in His Word, pray, worship, and advance His Kingdom. How we spend our time reveals what truly has first place in our hearts.

Our tithes and offerings are also acts of worship. They demonstrate our trust in God as our Provider and enable His Kingdom to advance. Throughout history, the Kingdom of God has moved forward because God’s people willingly gave toward His work. As the Church faithfully supports the mission of Christ, the Gospel reaches more people, lives are transformed, churches are planted, and the influence of God’s Kingdom continues to expand.

When the systems of this world use wealth, power, and influence to promote darkness, the people of God are called to use their resources to proclaim the light of the Gospel. As faithful stewards, our generosity becomes part of God’s work of pushing back the kingdom of darkness and extending His Kingdom on the earth.

1. The Judgment of the Great Harlot

Revelation 17:1–6

Church, Revelation 17 is one of the most symbolic and sobering chapters in the Book of Revelation. While there are different views regarding the exact identity of Babylon, the central message is clear: God will judge every system that opposes Him and leads people away from His truth.

John writes that one of the seven angels who carried the seven bowls invited him, saying:

“Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters.”

Immediately we are introduced to a woman whose influence extends over “peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.” Throughout Scripture, spiritual unfaithfulness to God is often described as adultery or prostitution. Here the woman represents a corrupt system that seduces the world into rebellion against God.

Church, when I read this chapter, I cannot help but think about the increasing moral decline we see around us. Sexual immorality, pornography, exploitation, human trafficking, adultery, and every form of impurity continue to spread across the world. Families are breaking down, marriages are under attack, and many people are being drawn away from God’s design for holiness.

While Revelation does not identify every modern expression of Babylon, it certainly reminds us that there is a powerful spiritual influence behind every system that normalizes sin and opposes God’s truth. What begins as temptation often grows into bondage, and what society celebrates today can ultimately destroy lives, homes, and nations.

The woman is clothed in purple and scarlet and adorned with gold, precious stones, and pearls. She appears beautiful, wealthy, and influential, yet her golden cup is filled with abominations.

Church, appearances can be deceiving.

Sin rarely presents itself as destructive.

It promises pleasure.

It promises freedom.

It promises fulfilment.

Yet behind its attractive appearance lies spiritual emptiness and separation from God.

John then sees written upon her forehead:

“Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and of the Abominations of the Earth.”

She is also drunk with the blood of the saints and the martyrs of Jesus.

This reminds us that the same spirit that promotes rebellion against God also opposes those who faithfully follow Christ. Throughout history God’s people have suffered persecution because they refused to compromise with the world.

Church, let us continue praying for believers around the world who are suffering for the Gospel.

1. The Mystery Explained

Revelation 17:7–14

John marvels at the vision, but the angel tells him not to be amazed and begins explaining its meaning.

The beast “was, and is not, and is about to ascend out of the bottomless pit.”

Notice the contrast. Throughout Revelation, Jesus is described as the One “who is, who was, and who is to come.” The beast attempts to imitate Christ but can never equal Him. Satan has always sought to counterfeit the work of God, but every counterfeit ultimately fails.

The angel explains that the seven heads and ten horns represent rulers and kingdoms. Faithful Bible scholars have understood these symbols in different ways. Some see them as successive kingdoms, others as future rulers or centres of influence. Whatever the precise interpretation, the message is unmistakable: every earthly power that exalts itself against Christ is temporary.

Church, governments change.

Empires rise and fall.

Cultures shift.

Human influence comes and goes.

But Jesus Christ remains King forever.

The ten kings eventually unite with the beast to make war against the Lamb.

Yet Revelation gives us one of its most encouraging promises:

“These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.” (Revelation 17:14)

Church, this verse should fill every believer with hope.

No one makes war with the Lamb and wins.

The victory has already been secured through Jesus Christ.

We overcome not because of our own strength but because of His finished work upon the cross.

As Revelation 12:11 reminds us:

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…”

May we always remain among those who are called, chosen, and faithful.

1. Babylon’s Fall Is Certain

Revelation 17:15–18

The angel explains that the waters where the woman sits represent peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages. Her influence reaches across the world.

The ten horns and the beast eventually turn against the woman herself and destroy her.

Church, this is a powerful lesson.

The very system that once supported Babylon becomes the instrument of her judgment.

Sin eventually destroys itself.

Everything built upon rebellion against God eventually collapses.

Verse 18 identifies the woman as the great city that reigns over the kings of the earth. Whether this points to a literal future city or symbolizes the world’s rebellious system, the message remains the same.

Every culture, city, nation, institution, or influence that exalts itself against God will ultimately face His righteous judgment.

This is actually a great comfort for believers.

Every system that promotes immorality…

Every system that celebrates rebellion…

Every influence that corrupts families, children, and society…

Every power that persecutes God’s people…

Will one day answer before the righteous Judge of all the earth.

Church, let us not fear Babylon.

Let us fear God.

Let us not imitate the values of this world.

Let us remain faithful to Jesus Christ.

The kingdoms of this world are temporary, but the Kingdom of our Lord will stand forever.

May we be found faithful until the day we stand before the Lamb, who is Lord of lords and King of kings.

Prayer Points

1. Pray for Holiness and Discernment

Father, keep my heart pure in a world that continually promotes compromise, immorality, and deception. Give me spiritual discernment to recognize every influence that seeks to draw me away from You. Help me to remain faithful to Your Word and to walk in holiness every day.

1. Pray for the Church and Persecuted Believers

Lord Jesus, strengthen Your Church throughout the world. Encourage believers who are suffering persecution because of their faith. May they stand firm without fear, overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and remain faithful until the very end.

1. Pray for Revival and Salvation

Father, we pray for our families, our communities, our nation, and the nations of the world. Let many who are trapped in the systems of Babylon encounter the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Raise up bold witnesses, empower Your Church to proclaim the Gospel, and draw multitudes into Your Kingdom before Your return.

A Charge to the Church

Church, as we reflect on Revelation 17, let us remember that Babylon may appear attractive today, but its end has already been determined by God. Do not envy the prosperity of those who reject Christ, and do not be influenced by the values of a world that is drifting further away from Him.

Guard your heart. Guard your eyes. Guard your mind. Guard your home. Stay rooted in God’s Word, remain faithful in prayer, and continue to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Let us be a church that refuses compromise, loves righteousness, proclaims the Gospel without fear, and lives in joyful anticipation of the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Remember, no one makes war with the Lamb and wins. The Lamb is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who belong to Him are called, chosen, and faithful. May we remain among that faithful company until the day we see Him face to face.
