Hello Church!

Welcome once again to our daily devotion.

As we come to Revelation 19, we arrive at one of the most glorious and joyful chapters in the Book of Revelation. In the previous two chapters, we witnessed the judgment and complete fall of Babylon, the worldly system that opposed God through pride, greed, immorality, and deception. Now the scene changes completely. Heaven is no longer mourning over judgment but rejoicing because God’s righteous purposes have been fulfilled.

Our new monthly theme is “Serving God.” Throughout this month, we will discover that serving God is far more than simply attending church or holding a position in ministry. Serving God is a lifestyle of worship, obedience, holiness, sacrifice, and faithful stewardship. It is using our time, gifts, resources, and entire lives for His glory.

Revelation 19 reminds us that every prayer we pray, every soul we win, every act of obedience, every sacrifice we make, and every service we render to God’s Kingdom is preparing us for one of the greatest events in history—the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

Church, we are not simply waiting for Christ’s return; we are preparing ourselves to meet our Bridegroom.

1. Heaven Rejoices Because God Is Just

Revelation 19:1–6

John writes:

“And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God.” (Revelation 19:1, KJV)

For the first time in Revelation, we repeatedly hear the word “Alleluia,” meaning, “Praise the Lord!”

Notice that heaven gives all the glory to God.

Not to angels.

Not to men.

Not to kings.

Not to governments.

But to God alone.

Why?

Because:

“For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.” (Revelation 19:2, KJV)

Church, this should comfort every believer. Sometimes we wonder why evil seems to prosper or why the righteous suffer while the wicked appear successful. Revelation reminds us that God has never lost control. He sees every injustice, hears every prayer, remembers every tear, and knows every sacrifice His people have made. His judgments are always true and righteous.

The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fall before God’s throne, crying:

“Amen; Alleluia.” (Revelation 19:4, KJV)

Then a voice comes from the throne saying:

“Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.” (Revelation 19:5, KJV)

What a beautiful invitation!

Whether your ministry is public or private…

Whether your service is seen or unseen…

Whether you are young or old…

God invites all His servants to praise Him.

Serving God is never in vain. Every prayer you pray, every offering you give, every soul you encourage, every act of kindness, and every hour you spend serving His Kingdom is seen by heaven.

2. The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

Revelation 19:7–10

John then hears another great proclamation:

“Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.” (Revelation 19:7, KJV)

Church, this is one of the most beautiful scenes in all of Scripture.

Jesus Christ is the Bridegroom.

The Church is His Bride.

History has been moving toward this glorious moment when Christ will receive His redeemed people.

Notice something very important.

The Bible says:

”…his wife hath made herself ready.”

Preparation matters.

Jesus is returning for a prepared Bride.

Not a distracted Bride.

Not a compromising Bride.

But a Bride who has remained faithful.

Verse 8 continues:

“And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.” (Revelation 19:8, KJV)

Church, one of the nicest fabrics I personally love, especially during the summer, is linen. If you have ever been to Italy, you will know how beautiful and elegant finely woven linen can be. As I read this passage, I cannot help but imagine the beauty of the Bride of Christ clothed in heavenly fine linen as she stands before her Bridegroom.

The fine linen is not simply a beautiful garment. It represents “the righteousness of saints.” God is preparing a holy Bride for His Son.

Allow me to share a personal pastoral opinion. This is my own reflection and not a direct biblical doctrine.

In my opinion, one of the beautiful meanings of the bridal veil is that the bride is presented to her husband in purity. I personally see the unveiling of the bride as a picture that no man has unveiled her sexually before her husband. Sadly, I believe this symbolism has largely been lost in our generation. Today, a bride may wear a veil even though the relationship has already been sexually consummated before marriage. Again, this is my personal understanding of the symbolism behind the veil.

As a pastor, my prayer is that the young men and women in our church would honour God by keeping themselves sexually pure until marriage. It would be a great joy and privilege for me to officiate a wedding where the groom is the first man to unveil his bride at the altar, as they enter the covenant of marriage together. I believe this is a beautiful picture of purity, holiness, and God’s original design for marriage.

But beyond the earthly picture is an even greater spiritual reality. Jesus Christ is coming for a Church that has remained faithful to Him. May we be clothed in His righteousness, live holy lives, and be found ready when the Bridegroom appears.

John then hears these wonderful words:

“Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.” (Revelation 19:9, KJV)

What an invitation!

Kings receive invitations to royal banquets.

World leaders receive invitations to state dinners.

But every believer has been invited to the greatest celebration in all eternity—the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

May every one of us be found ready.

John became so overwhelmed by everything he had seen that he fell at the feet of the angel to worship him. Immediately the angel stopped him and said:

“See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” (Revelation 19:10, KJV)

Church, this is one of the most beautiful lessons in this chapter.

The angel could have accepted the worship.

John was already on his knees.

John was already bowing before him.

The angel could have enjoyed the honour and glory that was being offered to him.

Instead, he immediately redirected all the worship to God and simply said:

“Worship God.”

What humility!

Whenever God uses us to preach, prophesy, teach, lead, or serve, we must never seek the glory that belongs to God alone. Every true servant points people back to Jesus.

Notice something else that touched my heart. The angel calls himself John’s fellow servant. Imagine that! A glorious ministering angel identifies himself as a fellow servant with John because they both serve the same Master.

This also teaches us to honour God’s servants. We should never dishonour faithful men and women whom God has called. At the same time, no servant of God should ever receive the worship that belongs only to Christ.

Today there are people who worship angels, and others who elevate men of God beyond their proper place. Revelation corrects both extremes. The angel himself refused worship because he knew that all glory belongs to God alone.

He then makes one of the most profound statements in Scripture:

”…for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Every genuine prophecy points to Jesus.

Every true revelation glorifies Jesus.

Every authentic ministry exalts Jesus Christ.

May our lives always point people to Him, for He alone is worthy of all honour, all glory, and all praise.
