Theme: Unleashed to Save the Never-Dying Soul
Fortified City Church & Love City Church, Basel

📖 1 Corinthians 5:1–13
⸻
📍 Introduction – Why Purity Matters for Souls
Every human being has something far more valuable than money, fame, or position — a never-dying soul.
That soul will spend eternity either with God or separated from Him.
When Paul addresses the sin in Corinth, he’s not merely talking about church rules — he’s talking about soul rescue.
Being unleashed by God means we don’t shy away from tough conversations or firm actions when someone’s eternal destiny is at stake.
And it also means we go out to where the souls are, until every city is reached.
⸻
1️⃣ Sin in the Camp Is a Soul Emergency
“It is actually reported…” (v.1)
Paul wasn’t chasing rumors; this was a public, undeniable fact: a man was sleeping with his father’s wife.
Even unbelievers knew it was wrong.
📌 Soul Rescue Angle:
When sin becomes public in the church, silence is not kindness — it is spiritual neglect.
If someone’s house was on fire, you wouldn’t say, “It’s not my place to get involved.”
In the same way, spiritual fire demands immediate, loving intervention to save the soul.
⸻

2️⃣ Grieving for the Soul, Not Just Condemning the Sin
“Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning?” (v.2)
Paul’s first expectation was grief. Not gossip, not pride, but a broken heart over the possibility of a soul being lost.
📌 Soul Rescue Angle:
Real love feels the weight of someone drifting toward destruction and refuses to pretend it’s “not that bad.”
Evangelism isn’t only for unbelievers — sometimes it’s rescuing a believer from backsliding.
⸻
3️⃣ Discipline Is a Rescue Mission
“…so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.” (v.5)
Paul’s discipline plan wasn’t punishment for punishment’s sake. It was a strategy to shock the man into repentance so his soul could be saved.
📌 Soul Rescue Angle:
Sometimes love has to be firm. If we avoid correction because we fear awkwardness, we value comfort over someone’s eternity.
When the flesh is allowed to rule unchecked, the soul is endangered.
⸻
4️⃣ Why One Soul Affects the Whole Body
“A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.” (v.6)
Sin spreads by example — and it spreads fast.
If unchecked, it can normalize rebellion in the entire church.
📌 Soul Rescue Angle:
Saving one soul from sin isn’t just for that person — it protects the souls of everyone watching.
Your purity is evangelism — it shows others that holiness is possible.
⸻
5️⃣ Accountability Is for the Saved, Outreach Is for the Lost
“…not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral…” (v.11)
Paul makes a clear distinction:
• To the world, we preach grace and invite them in.
• To believers, we preach purity and hold each other accountable.
📌 Soul Rescue Angle:
Evangelism without discipleship produces converts who stay in chains.
Discipleship without accountability produces churches full of unhealed wounds.
Both are necessary to save never-dying souls.
⸻
6️⃣ What We’re Saving the Soul From
Sexual immorality is not limited to one act — it includes:
• 💭 Lustful thoughts (Matthew 5:28)
• 🖥️ Pornography
• 🤲 Masturbation
• 💬 Flirtatious messaging
• 🤐 Secret relationships outside God’s will
📌 Soul Rescue Angle:
Every time we refuse these temptations, we’re choosing life for our own soul and showing others that sin is not the only option.
⸻
7️⃣ The Battle for the Soul in Today’s Culture
Culture claps for sin because it’s more entertaining than holiness.
But Paul’s words still stand: “Bad company corrupts good character” (1 Corinthians 15:33).
A never-dying soul is too valuable to risk for the sake of fitting in.
⸻
🚀 Our Next Step as a Church
That’s why very soon, we will be launching a missions team — a people on fire to rescue never-dying souls and plant the banner of Christ in new territories.
We will establish churches across Switzerland.
We must reach every region and every city.
God has given Fortified City Church and Love City Church the cities.
Our calling is not to be comfortable in one place, but to go where the lost are, until Switzerland hears the gospel and sees living examples of holiness.
📣 If you are interested in joining the missions team, please give your name to Tryphena so you can start our Unleashed Missions Training.
This is the time to prepare, be equipped, and be sent.
⸻
📝 Personal Reflection Questions
1. Who in your circle might be drifting away from God’s standard — and how can you lovingly reach out?
2. Is there any area of your life where compromise is endangering your soul’s fire?
3. Do you grieve for the lost and the backslidden enough to take action?
⸻
📖 Assignment
1. Read 1 Corinthians 5 prayerfully, seeing it as a soul rescue manual.
2. Pray for God to show you at least one soul you can encourage or correct in love this week.
3. Ask God if He is calling you to be part of this missions movement.
⸻
🙌 Weekly Challenge
• Share the gospel with someone far from God.
• Lovingly check in on a believer you haven’t seen walking closely with Christ.
• Pray for the launch of the missions team — and seriously consider joining.
⸻
🙏 Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for unleashing me into a world that desperately needs Your saving power.
Open my eyes to see the value of every never-dying soul.
Give me courage to speak truth, grace to show compassion, and discipline to walk in purity.
Make my life a rescue mission — pulling people from darkness into Your light.
Bless our upcoming missions work — that churches will be planted, cities will be reached, and souls will be saved across Switzerland.
Call and equip those who will join the Unleashed Missions Training.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Blessings,
