Theme: Sharing the Love of Christ to the Undying World — Church Without Walls

Devotion: 1 Timothy 2:1–15 ⸻ Introduction
Hey church, I am truly excited to bring you into the second chapter of 1 Timothy.
I want us to go a little deeper with understanding, because although all of you have read it, not everyone fully grasps what the Apostle Paul is communicating.
From chapter one, we learned about guarding sound doctrine, avoiding shipwreck of faith, and standing firm in truth.
But now we move into something foundational: prayer, intercession, thanksgiving, and order in the house of God.
⸻
1. The Four Dimensions of Prayer
⸻
A. Supplication
📖 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”
→ Philippians 4:6
Supplication is kneeling prayer—specific, burdened, and intentional requests before God.
⸻
B. Prayer
📖 “Call unto Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
→ Jeremiah 33:3
Prayer is general communication with God—relationship, fellowship, worship, and listening.
⸻
C. Intercession
📖 “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.”
→ Ezekiel 22:30
Intercession is standing in the gap for others.
Our greatest intercessor is Jesus Christ.
📖 “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”
→ Hebrews 7:25
⸻
D. Thanksgiving
📖 “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
→ 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Thanksgiving completes prayer. Without gratitude, prayer is incomplete.
⸻
2. Prayer for Authority and Nations
Paul instructs that prayers must be made for kings and all who are in authority so that we may live peaceful and godly lives.
This includes nations, cities like Basel, church leaders, fathers, employers, and all forms of authority.
In FCC, Church of Pentecost, ZCC, and global churches, we consistently live by this instruction.
⸻
3. God’s Desire for Salvation
God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of truth.
But this desire is activated through prayer and spiritual alignment.
⸻
4. The Power of Prayer
📖 “And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand.”
→ Revelation 8:4
Prayer is spiritual movement—it is not empty words.
Even Jesus Christ prayed in deep agony:
📖 “And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.”
→ Luke 22:44
If Jesus prayed, the church must pray.
⸻
5. One Mediator
📖 “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.”
→ 1 Timothy 2:5
Even Job longed for a mediator:
📖 “Nor is there any mediator between us, who may lay his hand on us both.”
→ Job 9:33
⸻
6. Men and Women in the House of God (ORDER AND BALANCE)
Men are called to lift holy hands in prayer without anger or doubt.
Women are called to modesty, humility, and godly character.
Church is not a platform for display:
* Gucci bags
* luxury outfits
* fashion competition
* material showing off
It is a place of worship.
Before I became a pastor , I remember and must admit there were times I felt proud showing a new car I bought to church with so much pride to show off—but that is a baby Christian mindset. I am not saying having something new is bad but motive matters.
⸻
Order in Worship (Not Silence of Value)
📖 1 Corinthians 11:2–16 shows women prayed and prophesied in the early church.
So “silence” refers to order, attitude, and submission—not absence of voice.
Paul was addressing order in worship, not the suppression of women’s participation in ministry.
⸻
7. Church Structure, Calling, and God’s Design
In the Church of Pentecost, women normally do not become pastors, but they hold strategic and powerful roles in ministry.
This reflects apostolic order and early church structure.
Does it mean women cannot be pastors?
In specific cases of calling, yes they can be pastors—God can call whom He wills.
But generally, there are fewer women pastors compared to men because Jesus Christ chose twelve disciples who were men and commissioned them first.
In the Church of Pentecost:
* the Chairman is male
* the Executive Council are male
* leadership structure is male-led
Yet the church thrives because of strong women who serve faithfully:
* deaconesses
* ministry women leaders
* pastor’s wives
* gifted women in prayer, teaching, and administration
They are not in competition—they are part of God’s design.
⸻
Are female pastors wrong?
No.
God calls whom He chooses.
We see examples like Joyce Meyer and Kathryn Kuhlman.
God’s calling is sovereign.
⸻
God’s Design, Not Competition
We are not in competition between men and women.
We are in cooperation under God’s divine design.
📖 “Does not the potter have power over the clay…?”
→ Romans 9:21
⸻
8. Final Balance: Christ Above All Division
📖 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
→ Galatians 3:28
So in FCC, women teach because they are properly trained, called by God, and spiritually sound.
A lady once told me she could not stay in a church where women teach. I realized she had not fully understood Paul’s message.
In FCC, we are blessed with powerful women in:
* leadership
* youth ministry
* national executive structures in Switzerland
They serve with humility alongside their male colleagues for the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
Let us focus on Christ, remove unnecessary divisions, and pursue the mission and vision He has given us for Switzerland.
⸻
Conclusion
To be honest, this was a short chapter but full of deep insight for study and reflection.
Prayer, order, calling, humility, and understanding are the pillars of this passage.
I will be available for questions if anyone has on this topic.
⸻
Closing
Let us grow in prayer. Let us grow in understanding. Let us grow in unity.
