It Starts in Your Room
Devotion by Pastor Joseph Antwi
Theme: From Upper Room to Every Room
Read: Romans Chapter 10:12-21
Introduction:
I am so excited to walk with you through Paul’s letters, combining them with the theme the Lord laid on my heart:
“From Upper Room to Every Room.”
Before we dive into this devotion, I encourage you to pause and read Romans 10:14–21 slowly. Don’t rush. Meditate on each verse and listen closely — hear what God is saying to you personally.
⸻
How can we expect people to follow Jesus if they’ve never really heard about Him? Many are lost not because they’ve rejected the gospel, but because no one has ever truly shared it with them. Were we saved by our own strength? No. God used someone — a preacher, a friend, a stranger — to convict our hearts and lead us to the truth.
“How can they hear without a preacher? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?” — Romans 10:14–15
We love spending time in prayer, reading the Word, and being in God’s presence — and that’s essential. But the Bible also says, “By this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments” (1 John 2:3). One of those commands is to go.
⸻
Sent with Power — Not Empty-Handed
Jesus didn’t just send us out casually. In Matthew 28:18–19, He said:
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”
This commission came with authority, and in Acts 2, it came with power from the Holy Spirit in the Upper Room. That power wasn’t meant to be locked away in one place — it was meant to be carried into every room: schools, offices, homes, and streets.
⸻
The Real Stage is the Street
Too often, we get excited only when we’re handed a microphone or stand on a pulpit. But the real altar is your everyday life. Your friends, neighbors, classmates, and co-workers — they’re your audience.
“He who wins souls is wise.” — Proverbs 11:30
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” — Romans 10:15
God calls your feet beautiful — not because of where they stand, but because of where they go. Don’t wait for “Evangelism Day” to share your faith. If fear is holding you back, remember: it’s the Holy Spirit in you who does the work. All you need to do is tell your story.
⸻
Fuel the Fire — Stay in the Word
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” — Romans 10:17
Faith doesn’t appear overnight. It is built by repeatedly hearing the Word. To stay spiritually strong, you need to be in a church that feeds you well, where you’re not left spiritually malnourished.
Whether it’s through your Bible, the FCC YouTube sermons, or listening to Scripture audio — make it a daily habit. Trade a few minutes of social media for time in the Word and watch your spiritual fire grow.
⸻
Reflection Questions:
• Are you waiting for the right moment or title before sharing Jesus?
• Where is God asking you to carry the message next?
• How are you feeding your faith this week?
⸻
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gospel that saved me. Thank You for those You sent to speak into my life. Now, send me — with power, with compassion, and with boldness. Help me not just be filled in the Upper Room, but to move with purpose into every room You lead me. Let my feet be beautiful in Your eyes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Loads of love,
Pastor Joseph Antwi
