Daily Bible Plan - 2 Timothy 2:1–26

05. May 2026

Devotion by Reverend Joseph Antwi

Theme: Reliving the Pentecost Experience - The aggresive Faith

Scripture: Second Epistle to Timothy 2:1–26 (NKJV)

Theme: Sustaining the Fire: Living Daily in the Power, Purity, and Purpose of Pentecost

Opening Insight

The encounter in Day of Pentecost is not just a historical moment—it is a present reality.

Through Paul the Apostle’s instruction to Timothy, we discover how the fire is:

* Received

* Sustained

* Protected

* Transferred

Pentecost continues through vessels who are willing to carry it.

1. Strengthened by Grace & the Anointing to Delegate (v.1–2)

“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

Pentecost is a transferable fire.

This is why in Fortified City Church, when I am not around, you see elders rising, taking responsibility, and functioning in the same capacity. It is not coincidence—it is intentional impartation.

➡️ Pentecost Reality:

There is a delegation anointing in the Kingdom.

The fire did not end with Paul the Apostle, nor with Peter, nor even with Timothy.

It continues through faithful people who are able to teach others.

➡️ Charge:

Will you be one who receives and passes it on?

2. Enduring Hardship with Focus – Protecting the Fire (v.3–4)

“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life…”

Hardship is part of the assignment—not a sign to stop.

Just this past weekend, I had the privilege of traveling to Manchester in the United Kingdom to minister at Gospel Light City Church. It was not just a meeting—it was an impartation moment.

The power of God moved tangibly:

* Lives were touched

* Deliverances took place

* The prophetic flowed strongly

You could sense clearly that the Holy Spirit was marking people and igniting something deeper in their walk with God.

But immediately after the assignment, resistance came.

Our return journey became a battle:

* Our flight was cancelled

* We rebooked—cancelled again

* The next day, we were told the flight was overbooked

* We had to reroute through Frankfurt before finally returning to Zurich

And in all this, Lady Anita was supposed to go to work the next day—but could not.

➡️ Revelation:

The enemy will often attempt to frustrate what carries divine impact.

Even though this is small compared to what Paul the Apostle endured, it reveals a spiritual truth:

➡️ Pentecost Reality:

Hardship is not a distraction—it is a test of focus.

The scripture says:

“No one engaged in warfare entangles himself…”

That means:

* You don’t get distracted

* You don’t lose focus

* You don’t engage in irrelevant conversations or matters

➡️ Pentecost Mindset:

Stay focused on the assignment, not the inconvenience.

3. Running with Discipline – The Rules of the Race (v.5)

“And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.”

The Christian walk is a race governed by divine order.

As Paul the Apostle teaches in First Epistle to the Corinthians 9, we run to obtain a crown.

➡️ Pentecost Reality:

You cannot run this race on your own terms.

* There are rules

* There is discipline

* There is alignment

The Spirit empowers—but does not remove structure.

4. Christ at the Center – The Purpose of the Fire (v.8–9)

“Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel…”

The fire of Pentecost reveals Jesus Christ—not personalities.

➡️ Pentecost Reality:

If Christ is not the center, it becomes another gospel.

No pastor, preacher, or leader can elevate themselves above Him.

Everything we do:

* Preaching

* Worship

* Prophecy

must reveal Christ.

5. A Vessel of Honor – Prepared to Carry the Fire (v.20–21)

“Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master…”

In God’s house, there are vessels of honor and dishonor.

➡️ Reality:

Even in the church:

* Some vessels build

* Some resist

* Some carry honor

* Some create dishonor

Paul the Apostle himself mentioned those who stood with him—and those who did not.

➡️ Pentecost Reality:

You must choose the kind of vessel you will become.

If the vessel is not prepared, the fire cannot be fully carried.

6. Separation and Pursuit – Sustaining the Fire (v.22)

“Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace…”

This is a double instruction:

Flee

Do not negotiate with lust—run.

Pursue

Run after:

* Righteousness

* Faith

* Love

* Peace

➡️ Pentecost Reality:

There must be both:

* Separation

* Pursuit

The fleeing protects you.

The pursuit transforms you.

7. Spirit-Led Character – Reflecting the Fire (v.24–26)

“And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all…”

Pentecost produces both power and character.

➡️ Pentecost Reality:

The same fire that produces manifestations must produce:

* Gentleness

* Patience

* Humility

Prayer

Father,

Let me relive Pentecost daily.

Make me a carrier and distributor of Your fire.

Help me remain focused through hardship.

Keep Christ at the center of my life.

Make me a vessel of honor.

Teach me to flee and to pursue rightly.

Let Your Spirit shape both my character and my power.

Prophetic Declaration

I am strong in the grace of Christ.

I carry and transfer the fire of God.

I remain focused in the midst of hardship.

I run my race according to divine order.

My life reveals Jesus Christ.

I am a vessel of honor.

The fire of Pentecost burns in me continually.

Closing Charge

Like Timothy, you are not just called to receive the fire—you are called to carry it, protect it, and pass it on.

Pentecost did not end in Acts.

It continues through you.

Wow, Todays Devotion was a blessing to me and many more.

This sentence "The encounter in Day of Pentecost is not just a historical moment—it is a present reality." was a wakeup call for me this morning and it reminded me, that we not only have access but that God shows us, not only in who He is but in what He does, that He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

I took with me that if we want to have the same experience as Apostle Paul, Peter or even Timothy we have to be a Vessle that is of honor and not dishonor. We have to avail ourselves not only to receive but to give as our Pastor…

Today’s devotion showed me, that we must make an intentional decision.

We must intentionally choose if we want to become a vessel of honor, for the Lord to use, or a vessel used against the works of God.

If we don’t choose, what kind of vessel we want to be, we wont be prepared, when the fire comes. That means, that we won’t be able to fully carry the fire with us.

It shows that there is no inbetween.

You either make yourself available to recieve and carry the fire or you don’t.

Thank you for the powerful devotion Pastor & Comms Team🙏🏽

What I took from the devotion is simple but powerful: the fire doesn’t stop with me—it flows through me. What I receive now isn’t just for today, as Pastor teaches us to see the bigger picture; it’s for a greater purpose and the next generation.

To carry it well, I have to stay intentional—focused, disciplined, and willing to live right. The fire only continues through vessels that choose to carry it.🔥🔥

This made me realize I’m not just a receiver, I’m a carrier of something impactful.

God bless you Reverend Joseph & the Comms Team for your service.❤️

Today’s devotion is truly powerful:

“If the vessel is not prepared, the fire cannot be fully carried.”

Our attitude determines whether we are a vessel of honor, used by God, or a vessel of dishonor, used by the enemy.

How we can recognize whether we are a vessel of honor or dishonor is by whether we walk in unity with the church, build it up in love and power, and walk in personal holiness—or whether we create confusion and disunity and walk in self-righteousness.

This means we must examine ourselves daily to recognize whether we are still on the right path.

Thank you, Pastor Joseph, for this powerful devotion 🔥🔥 and thanks to the Comms Team.
