Daily Bible Plan - 2 Timothy 3:1–17

08. May 2026

Devotion by Reverend Joseph Antwi

Theme: Reliving the Pentecost Experience - The aggresive Faith

Scripture: The Second Epistle to Timothy 3:1–17 (NKJV)

Theme: Hold Fast in Dangerous Times

Paul writes to Timothy like a father speaking to a son, with urgency and love. He warns him: “In the last days, perilous times will come” (2 Timothy 3:1). These are not only difficult days in politics or economy, but spiritually dangerous times—where people still appear religious, but their hearts are far from God.

Church — Love City Church, Lucerne City Fellowship (second service, French and English), Fortified City Church, PIWC Bern, and the Global Prayer Hub family — this is a call to spiritual awareness, not fear.

1. Signs of the last days (2 Timothy 3:2–5)

Paul describes what people will become like in the last days:

* lovers of themselves

* lovers of money

* proud and arrogant

* disobedient and ungrateful

* unholy and without love

* unforgiving and slanderous

* without self-control

* brutal and lovers of evil rather than good

* lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God

* having a form of godliness but denying its power

Church, this is not only outside the world. It is also a warning within spiritual spaces. People can hear the Word but refuse transformation.

So we must ask ourselves:

Am I only hearing the Word, or am I being changed by the Word?

2. A warning for the church (2 Timothy 3:6–9)

Paul warns that some will creep into homes and mislead the vulnerable, pulling them away from truth. He refers to Jannes and Jambres—who resisted Moses (Exodus 7–8, Jewish tradition identifies them as Pharaoh’s magicians).

They represent imitation without truth—religious appearance without divine power.

But Paul assures us: truth will ultimately be revealed.

3. Following a godly example (2 Timothy 3:10–12)

Paul tells Timothy: follow my doctrine, my life, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance, and my sufferings.

Then he gives a clear truth:

“All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12)

Church, persecution is part of true discipleship. It may come through marriage pressure, education struggles, workplace opposition, racism, bullying, or rejection.

But the instruction remains: stand firm and endure.

And Paul testifies that God delivered him from all persecutions (2 Timothy 3:11). God is still faithful to deliver.

4. Deception and endurance (2 Timothy 3:13)

Paul warns that:

“Evil men and imposters will grow worse, deceiving and being deceived.”

But the believer is called to endurance—remaining steady, faithful, and rooted in truth.

5. Scripture as our foundation (2 Timothy 3:14–17)

From childhood, Timothy knew the Holy Scriptures, which lead to salvation through faith in Christ (2 Timothy 3:15).

Paul declares:

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, correcting, and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16)

So that:

“The servant of God may be fully equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:17)

Church, Scripture is not only for preaching—it is for daily living.

If we want to relive the Pentecost experience, we must live Word-centered and Spirit-led lives.

6. Eternal urgency and warning (supporting Scriptures)

Jesus said:

“In my Father’s house are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2–3)

Paul reminds us:

“The Lord will come, and we will be caught up with Him” (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17)

And Scripture warns us about final accountability and judgment (Revelation 21:8).

7. Pastor’s personal submission (Revelation 21:8 reflection)

When I reflect on Revelation 21:8, I am reminded of the seriousness of eternity.

“But the cowardly, unbelieving, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars—they will be thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelation 21:8)

This is not to create fear, but urgency and clarity.

As a pastor, my submission is this:

* salvation must not be taken lightly

* grace must not be abused

* holiness must be pursued

* and eternity must always be kept in view

The church is not just a gathering—it is preparation for eternity.

Final pastoral charge

Church, in these last days:

1. Stay rooted in Scripture and walk in holiness

2. Endure persecution and resist deception

3. Attend church services regularly and stay connected to fellowship — in Fortified City Church, Love City Church, and every gathering where believers meet in LUCERNE and beyond

4. Be active in prayer meetings (Prayer Gym), Bible Academies, and especially discipleship classes on Fridays

5. Do not isolate yourself—stay planted among God’s people so you do not miss what God is doing in this season

Church, everywhere believers are gathering—be part of it. Stay connected, stay accountable, stay growing. This is how we guard our walk with God and remain ready for the Lord’s return.

Let us not miss the move of God in our generation.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help us to be faithful in these last days. Keep us from deception and strengthen us in persecution. Let Your Word shape our daily lives. Fill us with the Holy Spirit and keep us ready for Your coming. Help us stay planted in Your house and connected to Your people so we do not miss what You are doing in our generation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
