INTRODUCTION

John 1:19–34 teaches us that to be Unleashed2Love, we must first understand who we are not, who Christ truly is, and what He came to accomplish.

John the Baptist models a love rooted in identity, humility, revelation, and mission.

We are unleashed to love when we take our rightful place—decreasing—so Christ can be seen, embraced, and exalted through our lives.

Love is unleashed when Jesus is revealed.

1. Love Begins With Identity, Not Confusion (John 1:19–22)

The religious leaders questioned John:

“Who are you? Are you the Christ? Elijah? The Prophet?”

John answered boldly and honestly: “I am not.”

John did not try to elevate himself or use spiritual influence to gain a title.

He had no interest in promoting himself.

Although he carried a divine assignment, supernatural abilities, and a powerful message,

he remained grounded in truth and humility.

Okay. So, we realize that John did not try to answer those who asked him if he was the one because John had no interest in promoting himself.

Just by the purity of his calling and the message he carried, he spoke truth without creating confusion.

Today, many have gone into the world claiming to be the Christ.

But even John—the greatest prophet before Christ—did not claim he was somebody he was not.

He refused to take the place that belonged only to Jesus.

His humility protected his identity, and his identity protected his ministry.

Love flows from identity—never insecurity.

Once you know who you are not, you can boldly walk in who God has called you to be.

2. Love Knows Its Assignment (John 1:23)

“I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness…”

John did not try to be the Messiah.

He embraced his God-given role:

a voice, not the Word;

a witness, not the Light;

a forerunner, not the Christ.

Love stays in its lane.

Love thrives when you do what God called you to do without envy or pride.

To be Unleashed2Love is to accept your assignment and serve with joy.

3. Love Humbles Itself Before Jesus (John 1:24–27)

John declared,

“I am not worthy to untie His sandals.”

In a culture obsessed with honor and titles, John chose humility.

He recognized that Jesus must be exalted, not himself.

Love bows.

Love yields.

Love acknowledges Jesus as greater.

A heart that says,

“He must increase; I must decrease,”

is a heart truly unleashed to love.

4. Love Points People to Jesus, Not Self (John 1:29)

“Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

John’s ministry climaxed not in crowds or miracles,

but in pointing people to Christ.

Love is not about shining our own light.

Love is about leading people to the Light.

Every act of kindness, every prayer, every message must spotlight Jesus.

Unleashed2Love says:

“Don’t look at me—

Behold the Lamb.”

5. Love Recognizes the Lamb and the Sacrifice (John 1:29–31)

Jesus is the Lamb who came to take away the sin of the world.

Knowing that Love takes away the sin of the earth reminds us why we are saved and what our mission is.

We are not saved to sit comfortably—

we are saved to shine.

As we go out into the world, we must remember:

Jesus is the Light that has come to save humanity.

He takes away the sin from the earth.

Wow!

What a love the world must see.

And here is something powerful:

John did not just preach about Jesus—

he saw the Spirit descend upon Him.

John was able to see in the Spirit who Jesus truly is.

Church, we serve a living Father.

We serve a living God.

John saw in the Spirit the greatness of Christ’s love.

And even more amazing:

Jesus had to be born,

had to walk where we walk,

had to experience our humanity,

and had to endure sacrifice—

just to bring Light into the world.

What a love we must share with the world.

What a love we cannot hide behind.

Amazing!

6. Love Flows From Revelation, Not Tradition (John 1:32–34)

John testifies:

“I saw the Spirit descend… and remain.”

“This is the Son of God.”

John’s ministry was rooted not in tradition but revelation.

He loved and preached from what he had seen and heard from God.

True love is sustained by a living relationship with Jesus—

not rules, not structures, not rituals.

To be Unleashed2Love is to keep beholding Christ daily,

drawing strength and passion from fresh encounters with Him.

From revelation comes confidence, purity, fire, and a love that never runs dry.

🔥 Prayer

Lord Jesus,

You are the Lamb of God and the Light of the world.

Thank You for taking away the sin of the earth

and calling us into Your mission of love.

Give us the humility of John the Baptist,

the clarity of identity,

the courage of a true witness,

and the fresh revelation of Your Spirit.

Unleash us to love boldly,

humbly,

sacrificially,

and truthfully—

just like You.

Amen.

See you all tonight as we point out the people in Basel streets to Jesus Christ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
