Daily Bible Plan – Acts of the Apostels 13 ( Part 2 )

06. March 2026

Devotion by Reverend Joseph Antwi

Theme: My Job, My Kingdom Assignment

Church family, as we continue our journey through the Book of Acts, we see something very important: the early believers did not separate their daily lives from God’s mission. Wherever they went, whatever they did, they understood that their lives were part of God’s kingdom assignment.

In Acts 13:13–52, Paul stands in the synagogue and explains the Gospel. He walks through Israel’s history and shows that Jesus is the promised Savior. This reminds us that the message of Christ must always be clearly proclaimed, because salvation comes through Him alone.

📖 “Through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified.” (Acts 13:38–39)

Church, our assignment on earth is not only to live good lives but also to make Christ known wherever God has placed us — at work, in school, in our neighborhoods, and within our families.

1. The Gospel Must Be Proclaimed

Paul carefully explained how God fulfilled His promise through Jesus Christ. Faith comes when people hear the message of salvation.

📖 “How shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14)

Every believer, in one way or another, carries this responsibility. Our job, our environment, and our relationships can all become platforms for the Gospel.

2. Not Everyone Will Receive the Message

When the crowds gathered to hear Paul, some people rejoiced, but others became jealous and resisted the message.

📖 “But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy.” (Acts 13:45)

Church, the Gospel often reveals the condition of people’s hearts. Some will receive it with joy, while others may resist it. Our responsibility is not to control the response but to remain faithful in sharing the truth.

3. Many People Miss God Because of Excuses

This also reminds us of Jesus’ teaching in the Parable of the Great Banquet.

📖 “They all with one accord began to make excuses.” (Luke 14:18)

Some were too busy with their land, their work, or their personal affairs. None of these things were sinful, but they distracted them from responding to God’s invitation.

Church, in a nation like Switzerland where we have freedom and peace to preach the Gospel, we truly have no excuse not to participate in God’s mission.

4. Our Assignment Continues Even When We Face Rejection

When some rejected the message, Paul and Barnabas did not stop preaching. Instead, they continued the mission God had given them.

📖 “I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 13:47)

Sometimes rejection simply means that God is opening another door for someone else to hear the Gospel.

5. Spirit-Filled Disciples Remain Joyful

Even when persecution arose, the believers did not lose their joy.

📖 “And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 13:52)

True joy comes from knowing that we are walking in God’s purpose.

Church, let us remember that our lives are not random. Wherever God has placed us, we have been given a kingdom assignment.

📖 Chair Time

Open your Bible: Acts 13:13–52

Read

Slowly read the passage and observe how Paul explained the Gospel and how people responded.

Reflect

• Do I see my daily life and work as part of God’s assignment?

• Am I making excuses instead of sharing Christ with others?

• Am I remaining faithful even when people reject the message?

Pray

Lord, help me to see my life as part of Your kingdom mission. Give me boldness to share the Gospel and wisdom to recognize the opportunities You place before me. Let my life bring others closer to Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Shalom
