02. April 2026

Devotion by Reverend Joseph Antwi

Theme: Sharing the Love of Christ to the Undying World — Church Without Walls

Devotion: Acts 27:1–44

Hello, church family!

Happy New Month to every one of you!

We are very grateful to God for the gift of life. I especially want to congratulate all those who came out yesterday for evangelism — in Bahnhoff SBB, ClaraPlatz and all the other places where we shared the Gospel. God richly bless you all!

And for those who could not come but still found a way to share the Gospel, God bless you as well.

Church, this is our new theme for the whole month of April:

Sharing the Love of Christ to the Undying World — Church Without Walls.

As we step into this new chapter, we continue in the book of Acts of the Apostles 27, where Paul is sailing to Rome to stand before Caesar. Because he had appealed his case, there was no turning back — he had to go. And as they journeyed by sea, something very powerful happened.

Try to say a short prayer for me🙏🏻

1. Spiritual Perception Beyond Logic (Acts 27:9–10)

Paul perceived that the journey would end in disaster:

Acts 27:10 (NKJV): “Men, I perceive that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss…”

Notice — an angel had not yet appeared. No prophet had spoken to him. But Paul, being aligned with God, discerned in his spirit that danger was ahead.

Church, when you walk with God on your assignment, He sharpens your spiritual senses. You will know things — not because someone told you, but because your spirit is aligned with the Spirit of God.

A personal experience: during evangelism yesterday, I encountered an atheist and a Muslim, who said, “Logically, it doesn’t make sense.”

Church, the same way it did not make sense for Paul — who was not a sailor — to advise experts, as I often say ; what you don’t know that you don’t know, you don’t even know that you don’t know what you don’t know. As it sounds funny, it is very true. Paul knew something they did not — by revelation, not logic.

2. When Logic Overrides Revelation (Acts 27:11–13)

The sailors chose to follow the pilot and ship owner rather than Paul.

Church, sometimes spiritual direction will not make sense logically. When a man or woman of God speaks, it may contradict human reasoning. But God is not limited by logic; He works through revelation. Without revelation, you cannot understand God.

3. Storms Will Confirm What Was Ignored (Acts 27:14–20)

Soon after, the storm came. Paul’s perception became reality.

Church, when divine instruction is ignored, consequences follow. But even in this, God did not abandon them.

4. You Carry Preservation for Others (Acts 27:21–26)

In the middle of the storm, Paul encouraged everyone:

Acts 27:23–24 (NLT): “For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me…”

Everyone on the ship survived because one man carried God.

Notice this: after they realized Paul was right, he turned to encourage them. Paul did not desert them saying, “I spoke to you and you didn’t listen.” Paul was also in that boat; he could have died. But because one man was on the boat, God spared the whole boat. Because Paul was in the boat, the crisis was averted. Because you are in a boat, disaster and death can bypass you. Oftentimes, a believer can also face consequences. Paul could have died, but God decided to spare him.

And I pray that the Lord will spare us in certain circumstances like this. Imagine somebody who didn’t listen now turns to encourage them. Somebody whose advice didn’t make logical sense told them to break bread and eat. He became an encourager. He took the pulpit in the boat and showed care. That is our primary aim in this season: to care for the lost.

Guess what? Paul’s leadership, wherever he went — in prison, in a boat, in a shipwreck — he always, always, always leads. Oftentimes, our leaders may give us direction not to harm us, but to avoid a shipwreck. Many people have had shipwrecks in life because they did not listen to the perception of a man called by God. They walked their own path. But even though the ship was damaged, nobody perished as the Lord had said. May the Lord give us the grace to become like Paul, and I pray that He will deliver us from any crisis because we are too useful to Him for the enemy to touch us.

5. Stay Connected — Lives Depend on It (Acts 27:31)

Paul said:

“Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved.”

Church, your position matters. If you disconnect, someone may miss their encounter with Christ.

6. Demonstrate Faith in Crisis (Acts 27:35)

Paul took bread and gave thanks before everyone.

Church, in the storm — he worshipped. This is how we show Christ to the world.

7. God Will Bring You to Safety (Acts 27:44)

The ship was broken, but every life was preserved.

Church, the storm may break things, but it will not break you. If God has spoken, you will arrive safely.

8. God’s Word Will Always Stand

Every time we follow God’s direction, the Word proves true. Revelation and obedience are stronger than human logic.
