Introduction
Brethren, we give God all the glory for how far He has brought us in this devotional journey. Jesus taught us in Matthew 6:11 to pray for our daily bread, not only physical nourishment but also the spiritual food that strengthens our souls for the day ahead (Job 23:12).
As you read today’s devotion, I believe your heart and mind will be blessed as you faithfully set aside time each morning to seek God before stepping into a world filled with noise, distraction, and confusion. Jesus Christ, in His mercy, reveals to us the truth about the end times—not to frighten us, but to keep us from deception (Matthew 24:4), to show us how the tribulation will unfold, and how the coming of the Son of Man will take place.
🙏 Please remember to scroll to the bottom of our website and write your comments in the comment field.
Whatever you share in the church WhatsApp group as key learnings, kindly also post them on the website.
This greatly helps our ministry website algorithm and allows believers across many nations to be blessed by your reflections.
Let’s go deep into the Word of God.
1. The Cosmic Signs Before the Return of Christ (Mark 13:24–27)
Jesus begins by describing events that will shake the heavens themselves. He says: “The sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, and the stars of heaven will fall…”
— Mark 13:24–25
These signs echo the prophetic writings of Joel 2:30–31 and Isaiah 13:10, confirming that Scripture speaks with one voice. These are not symbolic, poetic words—Jesus means what He says.
In this moment of global trembling, the Son of Man will appear with great power and glory (Mark 13:26). For believers, this is not a moment of terror—but of triumph. Heaven’s King returns for His own.
Then He will dispatch angels to gather the elect from every nation (Mark 13:27), fulfilling what Paul later wrote: “We will be caught up… to meet the Lord in the air.”
— 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 This is our blessed hope (Titus 2:13).
2. The Fig Tree Lesson: Discern the Times (Mark 13:28–31)
Jesus gives a simple analogy: “When the fig tree’s branch becomes tender… you know summer is near.”
— Mark 13:28
In the same way, when we see global shaking, deception, falling away, tribulation, wars, and persecution (Mark 13:5–13), we must recognize that His coming is near—even at the doors (Matthew 24:33).
Jesus assures: “This generation will by no means pass away till all these things are fulfilled.”
— Mark 13:30
Which generation? The one that witnesses the signs Jesus described. He seals it with a guarantee: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”
— Mark 13:31 Buildings crumble, nations fall, but the Word of God stands forever (Isaiah 40:8).
3. No One Knows the Day or Hour — Stay Spiritually Awake (Mark 13:32–37)
Jesus makes something very clear: “Of that day and hour no one knows… only the Father.”
— Mark 13:32
This shuts the mouth of every false prophet who sets a date. You cannot give a calendar date to a supernatural event while living in a natural realm. Instead, Jesus emphasizes watchfulness, using the analogy of a master who leaves servants in charge (Mark 13:34). Each servant has an assignment—just like you and I have Kingdom assignments (Ephesians 2:10).
His warning is strong: “Watch and pray.”
— Mark 13:33 Why? Because spiritual sleep leads to spiritual disaster.
Many people will be caught unaware—not because Jesus came suddenly, but because they lived carelessly.
Jesus ends with a universal command: “What I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” — Mark 13:37
Conclusion
In my concluding words, I want to lovingly encourage the entire body of Christ—whether you are FCC, LCC, or from any other church. What matters is that Jesus Christ has one body spread across the earth (1 Corinthians 12:12–13).
This is why we at Fortified City Church are committed to advancing the gospel across every canton in Switzerland. Soon, by God’s grace, Love City Church will extend into many neighborhoods and cities. Pray for us as we expand, so that no one misses the great appointment that is coming upon the whole world.
Jesus has told us everything we need to know—the seasons, the signs, the fig tree, and also that no one knows the exact hour (Matthew 24:36). So when people claim Jesus will come on a certain date, ignore it. The Father alone knows.
What matters now is spiritual readiness.
Church, this is not the time to continue in hidden sin, in secret habits, in worldly compromise, or in double living.
If we want to walk with Jesus, we must seek first His Kingdom (Matthew 6:33) and pursue holiness (Hebrews 12:14).
God has given us many opportunities to grow:
Monday Secret Place, Tuesday Global Prayer, Wednesday Prayer Gym, Thursday Choir rehearsals, Friday Meetings, Saturday Youth, and Sunday services. These gatherings are not activities—they are spiritual watchtowers. This is how we “watch over a city” in prayer (Isaiah 62:6–7).
I pray that the Day of the Lord will not come upon us like a thief (1 Thessalonians 5:4), and that our sons and daughters will remain in Christ until His coming. Scripture says clearly that the generation living during these signs will not pass away until all is fulfilled (Mark 13:30).
The question is:
Are you ready to see the Son of Man coming in the clouds?
Will His appearance bring you joy—or fear?
Remember:
We are saved by grace (Ephesians 2:8–9), but we will be rewarded according to our works (Revelation 22:12).
Salvation is Christ’s work for us;
Reward is Christ’s work through us.
May God bless your morning.
Amen.

What stood out for me is that Jesus really remains the fixed point of certainty. In the midst of the chaos of end times as described vv24-25, Jesus promises He will return with power and great glory. As a believer, that tells me not to anchor my peace in the situation/dispensation present at any moment but in the unchanging authority of Jesus.
In addition, something else that resonated with me was "Keeping watch", today, tomorrow and every day after. We know not the day or time. Remember Mathew 24:13 "But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." I urge my brothers and sisters to continue staying strong until that day.
Thank you, Reverend Joseph &…
Salvation is Christ’s work for us; the reward is Christ’s work through us.
What a devotional! Being able to start the day with such a message was a true blessing!
Mark 13 really spoke to my heart.
Mark 13:31
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
What a great Lord we are privileged to serve! Even when everything comes to an end, our God will still remain present!
Thank you, Pastor Joseph and the communications team - it is truly a blessing to grow together in God’s Word. 🙏🏽❤️
Amen! Few talk about holiness, something that is extremely important, also few talk about not seeing that day as something horrible that will happen but as a triumph! We must look forward to that moment with great joy! Thank you for these words of encouragement and warning, the highlight for me is that we are not asleep but praying! How important is the unity of the Church, the gathering of all the Saints together and in harmony... there God sends his good oil that we need to have our lamps lit... Hallelujah thank you for sharing the word of God without being adulterated and your reflections inspired by the Holy Spirit that rot every yoke and remove all burden!
" Many people will be caught unaware—not because Jesus came suddenly, but because they lived carelessly. " This sentence really spoke to me! When I read the Devotion, I just thought to myself that I have no excuse or reason to not completely follow Jesus and give up every wordly thing. Like our Reverend has beautifully said, Jesus is telling and warning us, not to scare but to prepare us. And even in Church, we have so many opportunities to grow and be prepared for these End Times. Thank you Reverend Joseph for this really powerful Devotion and Thank you Communication Team for your hard Labor!
