Theme: Living in anticipation of Jesus' second coming

The Revelation of Jesus Christ
Scripture Reading: Revelation 1:1–20
⸻
Day 3 — Hello, Church!
Church, congratulations on reading yesterday’s Scripture passage and continuing this journey with me through God’s Word. I believe the Lord is already speaking to many of us through these devotions, and I pray that as we continue, our anticipation for the return of Jesus Christ will grow stronger each day.
Today we begin our journey through one of the most fascinating and misunderstood books in the Bible: the book of Revelation.
Many people are scared to read the book of Revelation. Others avoid it completely because of its visions, symbols, prophecies, judgments, and mysterious imagery. Some assume it is a book meant only for theologians or end-time experts, while others fear that it is too difficult to understand.
However, Revelation was never given to create fear or panic among believers. It was given to reveal Jesus Christ and to prepare His Church for what is to come.
The book of Revelation was given to help us understand who Christ truly is, what is yet to come, and how we should prepare ourselves as we live in anticipation of His return.
It does not only reveal His return. It reveals His glory. It reveals His authority. It reveals His victory. It reveals what the Church should pay attention to. It reveals what churches can miss if they are not careful. It reveals events that must take place before Christ returns. It reveals the rise and fall of kingdoms. It reveals the ultimate defeat of Satan. It reveals the rise and destruction of the Antichrist.
And finally, it reveals the New Jerusalem, where there will be no more tears, no more death, no more sickness, and no more pain. In many ways, it shows us God’s final restoration of what was lost in the Garden of Eden.
So I hope that throughout this month we can journey through Revelation together. Because we want to cover the major themes of Revelation before the month ends, there will be days when we read two chapters, three chapters, and sometimes even four chapters.
So tighten your seatbelt. Bring your Bible. Bring your notebook. Underline verses. Write questions. And allow the Holy Spirit to teach you.
Before continuing, please carefully read:
Revelation 1:1–20
Read it slowly.
Read it prayerfully.
Underline verses that speak to you.
Write down your observations.
Pay special attention to every description of Jesus.
Remember, our goal is not simply to finish a chapter. Our goal is to encounter Christ through His Word.
Now, let’s dive into today’s devotion.
⸻
1. Revelation Is About Jesus Christ (Revelation 1:1–3)
The book begins with these words:
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ.”
Notice that it does not say:
The revelation of the antichrist
The revelation of tribulation
The revelation of beasts
The revelation of judgment
It says:
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ.”
Church, if we miss Jesus, we miss the entire purpose of Revelation.
Many believers become fascinated with prophetic timelines, conspiracies, and end-time theories, but Revelation begins by directing our attention to Christ Himself. The closer we get to His return, the more we should know Him. The more we know Him, the less we fear the future.
The purpose of Revelation is not to scare believers. The purpose of Revelation is to reveal Christ.
⸻
2. Blessed Are Those Who Read and Obey (Revelation 1:3)
John gives us one of the most powerful promises in Scripture:
“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it.”
Church, there is a blessing attached to reading Revelation. There is a blessing attached to hearing Revelation. And there is a blessing attached to obeying Revelation.
Notice that the blessing is not merely for reading. It is for keeping what is written.
This is why I constantly encourage you to open your Bible yourself. A devotion can encourage you. A sermon can inspire you. But nothing replaces personally opening the Scriptures and allowing God to speak directly to your heart.
⸻
3. Jesus Is Coming With the Clouds (Revelation 1:7)
One of the key verses in today’s reading says:
“Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him.”
Church, this should immediately remind us of Acts 1:9–11. When Jesus ascended into heaven, two men stood beside the disciples and declared:
“This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
The message is consistent. Acts says He will return. Revelation says He will return. Paul also speaks of Christ appearing in glory. Scripture agrees with Scripture.
Jesus is coming again.
And His coming will not be secret.
Every eye shall see Him.
The first time He came as a servant. The second time He comes as King. The first time He came to save. The second time He comes to rule and judge.
This is why we must live ready.
⸻
4. Jesus Reveals His Deity (Revelation 1:8)
Jesus declares:
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Church, this is one of the strongest declarations of Christ’s deity in all Scripture.
Jesus is revealing Himself as God.
Alpha is the first letter.
Omega is the last letter.
He is saying:
I am the beginning.
I am the end.
I existed before time.
I remain after time.
Everything begins and ends with Me.
This is not merely a prophet speaking. This is Almighty God revealing Himself.
⸻
Final Charge
Church family, as we begin this journey through Revelation, keep your Bible open, read prayerfully, study carefully, focus on Jesus, do not fear the future, and live in anticipation of His return.
Remember:
Revelation is not primarily about beasts. Revelation is about Jesus Christ.
And the more we know Him, the more prepared we will be for His return.
⸻
Prayer
Father,
thank You for revealing Jesus Christ through Your Word. Help us to know Him more deeply. Help us to remain faithful in these last days. Keep us burning brightly for Your glory. And may we live every day in anticipation of the glorious return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In Jesus’ mighty name,
Amen.
Shalom
Rev Joseph

The closer we get to His return, the more we should know Him. The more we know Him, the less we fear the future. Woww 🔥🔥
What I could take from the Devotion was:
I was always scared to open or read the book of Revelation in the past, but I learned today that Revelation was never given to create fear or panic. It was given to reveal Jesus Christ, help us understand who Christ truly is, what is yet to come, and how we should prepare ourselves for His return.
This particular part touched me the most: The first time He came as a servant. The second time He comes as King. The first time He came to save.…
Wow, reading the Book of Revelation together—I'm so excited about everything we will learn as a community and what the Holy Spirit will reveal to us. 🔥🔥🔥
Today's devotion reminded me once again that knowing Jesus more intimately and personally is non-negotiable. As Rev. Joseph said:
> “The closer we get to His return, the more we should know Him. The more we know Him, the less we fear the future.”
The more we know Jesus, the wiser, stronger, and more spiritually mature we become. We learn to discern what comes from Christ and what does not. The events and revelations spoken of in this book, as well as in other parts of the Bible, will come to pass. What…
Wow, for me personally, Revelation is more empowering than intimidating.
It reveals the true majesty, authority and Lordship of Jesus Christ. The questions it awakens in me are: Have I truly learned from the teachings of my Master, Jesus? Have I genuinely understood what He has been saying all along? Am I truly living in obedience to His teachings? Am I ready for His judgment?
Humbly, my answer is no.
So I repent and return to my first love. I choose to go deeper, pursuing Him until Christ is truly revealed to me.
Thank you, Pastor, for your life and your faithful teaching. And thank you to the Communications Team for your excellent work.
