UNLEASHED2LOVE – THE GRACE OF GOD
Theme: Grace Empowers Love
Key Text: Ephesians 2:8–9 (NKJV)
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
Introduction
Shalom, people of God.
Today, we shall look at the topic Grace. Our presiding sermon on 25th December worked powerfully on The Greatest Gift, and I continued yesterday’s Sunday service exploring grace. If you missed the service, run to our church YouTube page, Fortified City Church, and search “Grace”.
However, I have decided to put this sermon into a devotion so you can go deeper. This time, there are many scriptures to memorize and meditate on, so get ready to underline them in your Bible.
Grace is the foundation of Unleashed2Love—God’s unmerited favor that empowers us to love freely, forgive generously, and walk in humility.
1. What Is Grace?
Grace is God’s unearned and undeserved favor, given to humanity through Jesus Christ. It is His divine enablement that allows us to love, forgive, and serve.
📖 John 1:16–17 (NKJV)
“And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
Grace is love unleashed—love that moves beyond merit or achievement.
2. Grace in Real Life
Grace is practical and transformative.
• Nelson Mandela’s Example: After 27 years in prison, Mandela could have sought revenge but chose grace instead, forgiving his oppressors and working toward national reconciliation. His act of mercy demonstrates the power of grace-empowered love.
📖 Colossians 2:13–14 (NKJV)
“And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.”
• The Cross: Jesus took the ultimate punishment so we could be reconciled to God and enabled to love freely.
📖 Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”
3. Benefits of Grace
Grace is not only the reason we are saved—it empowers, strengthens, and transforms our daily lives.
1. Salvation – Ephesians 2:8–9
Grace brings us into a right relationship with God. We cannot earn it, but we can receive it by faith.
2. Justification (Declared Righteous) – Romans 5:1–2
Through grace, we are declared righteous in God’s sight, giving us peace and confidence to stand before Him without guilt.
3. Strength in Weakness – 2 Corinthians 12:9
God’s grace sustains us in moments of weakness, trial, or failure. His power is perfected in our limitations, enabling us to persevere.
4. Favor and Open Doors – Psalm 84:11
Grace brings God’s favor into our lives, creating opportunities that we could not achieve on our own.
5. Transformation and Growth – 2 Peter 3:18
Grace does not only save—it changes us from the inside out, shaping our character, attitudes, and actions to reflect God’s love.
6. Eternal Hope – Romans 6:23
Grace assures us of eternal life. No matter the struggles of today, we have the promise of a future with God.
7. Multiplication and Overflow – John 1:16
Grace is abundant. As we receive it, it multiplies in our lives, enabling us to bless and serve others freely.
8. Greater Grace for the Church – 2 Corinthians 9:8
God’s grace is not just personal—it flows through the community of believers, equipping the Church to accomplish His purposes.
➡ Reflection on Mercy and Judgment:
It is hard for a person to die for someone he loves, yet we find grace in the eyes of God. If you are quick to judge others, you may struggle to experience God’s grace, because grace is always linked with mercy. As a pastor, I often see how people quickly criticize men and women of God for the slightest missteps, yet those same pastors extend grace to members in their weak, sinful, or down moments.
Grace is the very nature of God—a gift freely given to us through Jesus Christ. Never boast about what you can do, because everything you achieve, every victory, every step forward is by grace alone.
4. How to Live in Grace
• Humility: James 4:6
“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’”
• Faith: Romans 5:2
• Obedience: John 1:16
• Dependence on God: Hebrews 4:16
“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Grace is received and expressed through action, enabling us to love as Jesus loves.
Conclusion
Grace has a name: JESUS.
📖 John 1:14 (NKJV)
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory… full of grace and truth.”
This Christmas season, let God’s grace unleash love in your heart. Let it empower you to forgive, serve, and love without limitation.
Unleashed2Love is grace in action.
Looking Ahead to 2026
But remember, on 31st December, we engage a new gate of 2026. We don’t know if 31st December may reveal Christ’s return or not, but let’s stay ever ready to enter the new year, not with fireworks 🧨 but with prayer fireworks that can transform every negative proclamation against you in 2026. Come and start well, and I encourage you to invite as many people as possible.
You can never receive God’s grace without accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.
📖 Romans 10:9 (NKJV)
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
