Focus Scriptures: 

• 1 Corinthians 12:4 –6 (NIV) "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work."

• Acts 2:17 (NIV) “‘In the last days, God says,I will pour out my Spirit on all people.Your sons and daughters will prophesy,your young men will see visions,your old men will dream dreams.’”

  
  

The Ascension

(1 Corinthians 12:1–11, Acts 2:17)

Today is a special day for believers around the world - Ascension Day, the moment we remember Jesus' return to the Father after His resurrection. But He didn’t leave us alone. Before ascending, He gave the apostles a clear instruction: “Wait in Jerusalem… you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you...” (Acts 1:8-11)

They waited and the promise came. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit filled the 120 gathered in the upper room, and Peter boldly declared:“This is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ‘In the last days, I will pour out my Spirit on all people…’” (Acts 2:14-18, Joel 2:28)

Today, just like the early church, we wait. We fast, we pray, and we ask with faith for the gifts of the Spirit. The Bible says:“If you, though evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” (Matthew 7:11) Paul teaches that there are many gifts, but the same Spirit - wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, prophecy, tongues, and interpretation. (1 Corinthians 12:4-7) Let us pray with sincere hearts, asking not just for emotional experiences but for true manifestations of the Spirit. Gifts that build up the Church, reveal Christ, and transform lives!

Prayer points:

• Thank God for his spiritual gifts – Praise Him for the gifts He gives through the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:4)

• Activation of gifts – Ask the Lord to activate & rekindle spiritual gifts within you. (2 Timothy 1:6)

• Building a Life Full of the Spirit – Pray for a life continually led and filled by the Spirit. (Ephesians 5:18–20)

• Holy Spirit's boldness and discernment – Pray for courage to speak the Word of God without fear, and for discernment to walk in truth and avoid deception. (Acts 4:29–30)

• Edifying use of gifts – Ask the Lord to help you use your spiritual gifts to build up the Church, to serve and strengthen others. (1 Corinthians 14:12)

• Pray for COP Switzerland – Declare fresh fire, unity, and power upon the church. (Acts 1:8; Romans 8:26–27)

As we seek Him in prayer and fasting today, may the fire of God fall afresh on us. May the Holy Spirit empower us, equip us, and send us out as bold witnesses for Jesus.
