Daily Bibel Plan – Love - More than a Feeling

16. Februar 2026

Devotion by Reverend Joseph Antwi

Theme: Love — More Than a Feeling

Introduction

Church, today I want us to intentionally pause and reflect on what the Lord did among us last weekend.

As a church family, we have dedicated every February to Love & Jazz, and this was our third edition. God is good.

Our first edition brought about 50 people.

Our second edition brought about 80 people.

And this third edition brought about 200 people who came to hear about the love of Christ.

What a joyful testimony. What a celebration for the church. This is not pride in ourselves — this is gratitude to God. When souls gather to hear about Jesus, heaven rejoices. And so must we.

The drama team ministered powerfully. The LCC leadership organized the program from beginning to end with excellence. Church, God has blessed us with growing and committed leadership. We are grateful.

This was not just an event. It was evangelism. It was soul-winning. It was strategy. It was redeeming a worldly moment and turning it into an opportunity to present the true love of Christ.

On Sunday, Deaconess Ruth Ahiabor preached powerfully on the topic of love. The Word was clear, biblical, and convicting. Today’s devotion is intentionally built around what she preached so that we do not forget that powerful sermon but continue to reflect on it throughout the week.

After this, we return to our theme: Raising a Spirit-Filled Disciple. But let it be clear — you cannot be a Spirit-filled disciple without love.

1. The More Excellent Way

📖 “And yet I will show you a more excellent way” (1 Corinthians 12:31).

Paul had just spoken about spiritual gifts — prophecy, tongues, faith, knowledge. Powerful manifestations of the Spirit. But then he says there is something greater: love.

📖 “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass” (1 Corinthians 13:1).

You can preach well.

You can pray loudly.

You can lead effectively.

But without love, it is noise.

A Spirit-filled disciple is not first recognized by gifts but by love.

2. The Definition of Love

📖 “Love is patient, love is kind…” (1 Corinthians 13:4–7).

Love is patient — It endures people’s weaknesses without quitting.

Love is kind — It actively does good.

Love does not envy — It celebrates others without comparison.

Love does not boast — It does not seek applause.

Love is not proud — It walks humbly.

Love does not dishonor others — It protects dignity.

Love is not self-seeking — It thinks beyond itself.

Love is not easily angered — It is emotionally governed.

Love keeps no record of wrongs — It forgives genuinely.

Love rejoices with the truth — It stands for righteousness.

Love always protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres — It remains steady.

If these qualities are absent, we must grow. Love is a daily discipline.

3. Love Is Sacrificial, Not Emotional

The world defines love emotionally — flowers, romance, excitement. But Scripture defines it eternally.

📖 “For God so loved the world that He gave…” (John 3:16).

Love gives. Love sacrifices.

📖 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Jesus died for us at our worst.

📖 “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13).

Love costs something.

If we truly love people, we will care about their eternal destiny. That is why Love & Jazz was powerful — because it was not entertainment, it was eternity-focused.

4. Love and Evangelism

Two hundred people gathered to hear about Christ. That is love in action.

Some may see numbers. But we see souls.

If we claim to love but remain silent about salvation, we must examine ourselves.

📖 “If someone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar” (1 John 4:20).

Love compels us to move beyond comfort.

As we go out for evangelism this week, ask yourself: Is my love practical? Is my love reaching others?

Love thinks about heaven and hell.

5. A Spirit-Filled Disciple Must Love

As we return to our theme of raising Spirit-filled disciples, we must understand this truth:

📖 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love…” (Galatians 5:22).

The first evidence of the Spirit is love.

You cannot be Spirit-filled and bitter.

You cannot be Spirit-led and unforgiving.

You cannot be spiritually mature and loveless.

Love is the foundation of discipleship.

6. Love Protects and Preserves

📖 “Above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8).

Love preserves unity. Love guards the church. Love strengthens us against division.

Church, I examine myself first. And I encourage you to do the same. Love is not a feeling. It is obedience. It is sacrifice. It is daily surrender.

Love is more than a feeling.

📖 Chair Time

Open Your Bible

  • 1 Corinthians 12:31

  • 1 Corinthians 13:1–13

  • John 3:16

  • Romans 5:8

  • John 15:13

  • 1 John 4:20

  • Galatians 5:22

  • 1 Peter 4:8

Reflect

  • Am I operating in gifts but lacking love?

  • Is my love sacrificial or comfortable?

  • Does my discipleship reflect Christ’s love?

Pray

Lord, fill me with Your Spirit so that love becomes my nature. Remove pride, impatience, and selfishness from me. Give me boldness to reach souls. Let love define my discipleship. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏🏾🔥
