Devotion by Reverend Joseph Antwi
Theme: Sharing the Love of Christ to the Undying World — Church Without Walls

Devotion: 1 John 2:1–29 ⸻
Introduction
Hello, dear church family!
I bring you greetings today from a very, very special place — a new and special environment.
I feel strongly impressed in my spirit that we should go line by line through the book of 1 John so we can fully explore its depth.
Yesterday, we looked at 1 John 1:1–10,
and today, we are focusing on 1 John chapter 2.
Alongside this, we will also read Genesis chapter 2 during our chair time.
So let’s pay attention, stay focused, and get to work.
⸻
1. The Heart of a Spiritual Father (1 John 2:1–2)
1 John 2:1 (NKJV): “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin…”
John introduces us to spiritual parenting.
He is speaking to spiritual children — those he shepherds.
And he says:
“…if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”
⸻
2. Sin, Guilt, and the Need for an Advocate (1 John 2:2)
Sin brings:
• Shame
• Guilt
• Separation from God
Unrepented sin causes long-lasting damage.
The same enemy who leads people into sin
is the one who accuses them.
This is why people withdraw from God.
But just like in Genesis,
sin separates man from God.
God dwells in holiness — not in corruption.
⸻
3. Jesus — Our Advocate (1 John 2:1)
Jesus stands in the gap for us.
He has already paid the price.
So there is no need to run away from God.
But also:
Grace is not a license to remain in sin.
⸻
4. Knowing Christ Through Obedience (1 John 2:3–6)
1 John 2:3 (NKJV): “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.”
Obedience is the evidence that we know Christ.
If we claim to know Him
but do not obey Him,
the truth is not in us.
⸻
5. Walking in Love — Evidence of Light (1 John 2:7–11)
1 John 2:9 (NKJV): “He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness…”
You cannot walk in light
and live in hatred.
Love is proof that you are in the light.
⸻
6. Spiritual Growth and Identity (1 John 2:12–14)
John reveals spiritual levels:
• Children → forgiven
• Fathers → know God deeply
• Young men → strong and victorious
1 John 2:13 (NKJV): “You have overcome the wicked one.”
And today we declare:
You have overcome the evil one!
⸻
7. Do Not Love the World (1 John 2:15–17)
Now church, this is where the Gospel becomes very practical.
1 John 2:15 (NKJV): “Do not love the world or the things in the world…”
The Gospel is simple:
When we go into the world,
we are sent to save it,
not to become like it.
Loving the world is opposite to God’s will.
1 John 2:16 (NKJV): “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father…”
Church, take note:
• The lust of the flesh
• The lust of the eyes
• The pride of life
These do not come from God —
they come from the world.
All the things people strive for:
• Possessions
• Appearance
• Status
They are temporary.
1 John 2:17 (NLT): “And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave…”
But hear this:
Whoever does the will of God lives forever.
So we must live with eternity in view.
⸻
8. Church Without Walls — What We Preach and What We Become
Church without walls is not only about preaching.
It is about becoming the message.
We preach:
• Light
• Love
• Christ
And we must also live it.
⸻
Final Charge
Church family,
• Do not run from God because of sin — run to Him
• Walk in obedience — it proves your love
• Let go of hatred — walk in love
• Do not love the world — live for eternity
• Become the message you preach
⸻
Chair Time
Take time today to:
• Read 1 John 2:1–29
• Read Genesis 2
• Reflect on your walk with God
• Pray for grace to overcome sin and worldliness
⸻
Closing Exhortation
I’m looking forward to seeing you all today in the evening at Prayer Gym —
where fire will be ignited 🔥
where the love of Christ will be stirred within us
and where we will receive grace to overcome everything
that prevents us from sharing the Gospel.
We will also learn how to share the right Gospel
with our friends and loved ones.

all the way from a continent known for faith
and known for God’s blessing assignment.
Shalom.

This devotion touched me deeply once again!!
In the light, there can be no darkness. Darkness is simply the absence of light, and within it there is no light at all.
But if we say that we live in the light while darkness is still within us, then we have not truly received it.
that is why we obey God and try not to sin, because Sin is seperation from God, and who truly has known God will never go further away from him.
When we go out into the world,
we are sent to save it —
not to become like it.
We are set apart, yet also called to carry this light into the world.
Jesus Christ —…
The Word of God is so powerful wow!
Many thanks to you, Pastor, for sharing your revelations and insights with us. It is truly a blessing. May God bless you abundantly!
There are many powerful things in today’s devotion, but what stood out to me the most is that we, as a church without walls, are not only called to preach but to be living proof of the very message that we preach.
Once again, we are reminded that even though we are in this world, we are not of this world, and God has assigned us to save them, not to join them.
We are so blessed!🙌🏽
Today’s Devotion was so powerful!this is how to leave a comment at this section
What a revelation! You rock
What a blessing truly thank you pastor God bless you, this morning it reminded me that we shall become the light and not the darkness, and walk in love and not hatred i love the reflection how important it is for us to love our brothers and sisters like John said it “He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.”
I John 2:10
And how he teaches us to save the world and not become one of it it refreshes my mind and spirit, we may live in the world but we are not from the world, it always reminds me who we really are and to whom we belong…
