Prayer of the Day:
Lord, thank You for Your incredible love and grace. Help me to trust in Your power to transform lives, including my own. May I always marvel at Your generosity and hold on to Your love, even in difficult times. Amen.
You Are Loved
Do you ever wonder if God’s love is truly for you? The story of Shane Taylor—a man once considered one of the most dangerous in the UK prison system—reminds us that no one is beyond the reach of God’s love. Originally jailed for attempted murder, Shane’s life was marked by violence, even attacking a prison officer and living in total segregation. But everything changed when he encountered Jesus through an Alpha course in prison.
With a simple prayer—“Jesus Christ, I know you died on a cross for me. I hate who I am; who I’ve become. Please forgive me and come into my life”—he was filled with the Holy Spirit. His transformation was radical. He went from total isolation to working in the prison chaplaincy, praying for those he once fought against. After his release, he built a new life, married a woman who also found faith, and became a father of five. Today, it is hard to imagine he was ever the same person. He has experienced the “wonder of [God’s] great love” (Psalm 17:7).
Shane’s story is a powerful reminder that no matter our past, God’s love can redeem and transform us.
Scriptural Foundations & Key Messages
You Are Treasured by God(Psalm 17:6–12)
David’s prayer reflects the depth of God’s love for His people:
• “Keep me as the apple of your eye” (v.8). Just as the pupil of the eye is protected, God treasures and guards His people.
• “Hide me in the shadow of your wings” (v.8b). This image of a mother bird sheltering her young reflects God’s intimacy and protection. Jesus later echoed this longing for His people (Matthew 23:37).
• Even when surrounded by enemies, David clings to the truth that God’s love is constant (v.9-10).
Application: No matter what struggles you face, know that you are deeply loved and treasured by God.
God’s Love Is Extravagant (Matthew 20:1–19)
Jesus’ parable of the workers in the vineyard reveals the radical generosity of God’s love:
• The landowner pays all workers the same, whether they worked all day or just one hour. This symbolizes God’s grace—salvation is not earned but freely given (v.9-15).
• Some grumbled, thinking it unfair (v.12), yet Jesus reminds us: “The last will be first, and the first will be last” (v.16).
• Just like Shane Taylor, some people come to Jesus at the “eleventh hour.” God’s grace is for them just as much as for those who have followed Him all their lives.
Application: God’s generosity is beyond human logic. Instead of envy, we should marvel at His grace, knowing that He pours out blessings beyond what we deserve.
Hold On to God’s Love Through Difficult Days (Job 11:1–14:22)
Job’s suffering raises deep questions, yet he clings to God’s love:
• Even in despair, he declares: “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him” (Job 13:15).
• Job rejects the shallow explanations of his friends and instead acknowledges God’s wisdom: “If we humans die, will we live again? That’s my question… waiting for the final change—for resurrection!” (Job 14:14, MSG).
• Unlike Job, we know the full story. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we have the certainty of eternal love and hope.
Application: Even when we don’t understand suffering, we can trust in God’s love. He is working all things for good, even when we cannot see it.
Overall Takeaway
• God’s love is personal and protective. He treasures you as the apple of His eye.
• His generosity is beyond human understanding. Salvation is not about earning—it’s about receiving His grace.
• Transformation is possible for anyone. No one is beyond redemption, no matter their past.
• Even in suffering, we can trust in God’s love. His purposes will always prevail.
