Prayer of the Day
Lord Jesus, thank you for the gift of your presence. Thank you that I can come to you each day to be refreshed, guided, and strengthened. Help me to make time with you a daily priority. In moments of fear, distraction, or weariness, draw me into the quiet place where I hear your voice. You are my rest, my strength, and my peace. Amen.
Scriptures of the Day
Mark 6:31 – “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
Psalm 25:1–2 – “In you, Lord my God, I put my trust. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame.”
Exodus 31:13 – “You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you… so you may know that I am the Lord, who makes you holy.”
How to Spend Time with Jesus
Time to Look to God
David shows us how to start each day—with trust, surrender, and an upward gaze. In Psalm 25, he brings his whole life before God, asking not to be ashamed or disappointed. He teaches us that before we speak, we look. Before we act, we trust. Quiet time with God begins by setting our hearts toward Him, no matter what pressures surround us.
Time Alone with Jesus
Even in the busyness of ministry, Jesus prioritized quiet time with His Father. He told His disciples, “Come with me… to a quiet place.” Whether healing the sick, feeding crowds, or walking on water, His public power flowed from private prayer. We see Him step away to a mountain, in solitude, to reconnect with God. If Jesus needed quiet time, how much more do we?
Time to Receive Help
In Exodus, the Sabbath was set apart as sacred rest. This was not just for physical renewal but to realign with God. Without that time, the people fell into idolatry, rushing ahead in impatience and fear. Time with God reminds us of His sufficiency, corrects our hearts, and equips us to resist temptation.
God doesn’t call us to strive alone. He calls us to sit with Him. To listen, to learn, to lean. And when we bring even the little we have, Jesus multiplies it—feeding others, calming storms, and healing our hearts.
Takeaways
Daily time with Jesus is spiritual nourishment that strengthens us for the day ahead.
Jesus models the importance of quiet time even amid demanding ministry.
Without regular time with God, we are more vulnerable to fear, impatience, and temptation.
God can do much with little when we offer ourselves to Him.
