Prayer of the Day
Lord, thank You that I was created for a loving, ongoing relationship with You. No amount of success or admiration can fill the space You made for Yourself in my heart. Teach me to speak with You daily, to trust You deeply, and to forgive freely. Help me to approach You with confidence through Jesus, and to walk by faith, not sight. Amen.
Scriptures of the Day
• Psalm 28:1–9 – “Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy.”
• Mark 11:1–25 – “Have faith in God.”
• Leviticus 7:11–8:36 – “Let us draw near to God…”
• Hebrews 4:14–16 – “Approach the throne of grace with confidence.”
A Loving, Ongoing Relationship
Freddie Mercury once asked, “Does anybody know what we are living for?” Though he had fame and fortune, he confessed to feeling deeply lonely. His words cut to the human ache for something more—a relationship that is constant, secure, and truly loving.
At the heart of the Christian faith is exactly that: a loving, ongoing relationship with God. It’s the answer to our deepest questions, the remedy for our loneliness, and the source of our purpose.
Psalm 28 shows us how to begin: with prayer. Using the ACTS pattern—Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication—David expresses fear, hope, and trust. Even in distress, he lifts his hands and says, “Praise be to the Lord.”
Jesus echoes this in Mark 11. He teaches that the foundation of our relationship with God is faith—not performance, but trust. He urges us to pray boldly, forgive freely, and believe that God hears and responds. “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it,” He says. Faith moves mountains—not because we are strong, but because God is.
Leviticus sets the stage for what Jesus would later fulfill. In the Old Testament, people approached God through priests and sacrifices. But Jesus is our Great High Priest, the once-for-all sacrifice who allows us to come directly to God. Through Him, we receive mercy and find grace (Hebrews 4:14–16).
This loving relationship isn’t a reward for the religious—it’s a gift for the broken. And it’s ongoing. We don’t just meet God once; we walk with Him daily.
Takeaways
• We were created for a relationship with God—that’s where purpose and meaning begin.
• Prayer is a two-way conversation: adore, confess, give thanks, and ask boldly.
• Faith is the foundation of our relationship with God, not performance.
• Jesus is our Great High Priest—we can approach God with confidence and receive mercy.
