Prayer of the Day
Lord, thank You that You share Your authority, power, and peace with those who walk closely with You. Help me to listen for Your voice, speak Your words, and live under Your authority—not my own. Strengthen me for the battles I face today, and give me peace as I walk in step with You. Amen.
Scriptures of the Day
• Psalm 29:1–11 – “The voice of the Lord is powerful… The Lord gives strength to his people.”
• Mark 11:27–12:12 – “By what authority are you doing these things?”
• Leviticus 9:1–10:20 – “The glory of the Lord appeared… Fire came out from the presence of the Lord.”
• Hebrews 10:19–22 – “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart…”
How to Exercise Spiritual Authority
Spiritual authority isn’t about status, charisma, or control. It flows from closeness with Jesus. That’s what set John Collins apart—a humble man of God whose deep relationship with Jesus gave his words weight. Though he never sought attention, his spiritual authority shaped churches and leaders for decades.
Psalm 29 reminds us where all true authority comes from: the voice of the Lord. His voice is described as powerful, majestic, and full of glory. We hear it today through Scripture. As we read the Bible and pray, God strengthens us and fills us with peace—two essentials for every spiritual battle.
Jesus displayed this kind of authority in Mark 11. Even His critics couldn’t deny His power—they just questioned its source. Jesus made it clear: His authority came from God. He told a parable that revealed He is the Son—the One with ultimate authority, sent by the Father. Though rejected, He would become the cornerstone of a new kind of leadership, built not on human credentials but divine calling.
In Leviticus, we see the awe and fear of approaching God’s presence. Fire from heaven, reverent worship, even judgment on those who approached wrongly—it all pointed to a deeper truth: access to God is holy. But through Jesus, our perfect High Priest, that access is now open. His sacrifice was once for all. We can draw near with confidence, cleansed and forgiven.
God invites us into His presence—to hear His voice and walk in His strength. And from that place, we too can speak and live with spiritual authority. Not because of who we are, but because of who He is in us.
Takeaways
• True spiritual authority comes from closeness with Jesus—not status or power.
• God still speaks today—through His Word and by His Spirit. Listen.
• Jesus, the Son of God, has ultimate authority. He is the cornerstone of our lives.
• We have access to God’s presence through Jesus—draw near, be filled, and speak with His strength.
