Introduction

Hello, our dear church! We bless God for another wonderful period He has given us. We are in week two of our fasting, hallelujah! Amen.

We are grateful to God for the strength He has given us and how He has empowered us in our innermost being. As the Bible says:

📖 “But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)

As we wait on the Lord and listen to His voice, it is vital to shut ourselves from distractions: shut your doors from confusion, noise, and voices that are contrary to God’s voice. This devotion is designed as a guide to draw you deeper into the Word of God and into the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

I write this devotion with humility and honor to our district pastors, presiding elders, ministry leaders, and all leadership of our dear church. What I share is a reflection of what God has impressed on me, but your responsibility is to go deeper into the Scriptures, meditate, pray, and allow the Spirit to teach you personally.

Today, we focus on the Baptism and Infilling of the Holy Spirit.

Understanding Baptism & Infilling of the Holy Spirit

John baptized with water, symbolizing repentance and the forgiveness of sins. But Jesus promised another baptism:

📖 “John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” — Acts 1:5 (NKJV)

Water baptism brings a new beginning—death to the old self and life in Christ. But Holy Spirit baptism is empowerment for living, ministry, and obedience. It is the Spirit coming to fill us so that we can do what our natural man cannot.

Paul reminds us:

📖 “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” — Romans 8:26 (NKJV)

When the fire of the Spirit comes upon us, it ignites boldness, removes fear, and equips us for the assignment God has given. This fasting season is our upper room—our intentional waiting place, just as the disciples waited for the Spirit.

Being Filled With the Holy Spirit

What does it mean to be filled? Think of a cup filled with water: when full, it overflows.

The Holy Spirit does not want partial access or halfway miracles. He wants to fill us completely, so that our lives overflow with His presence, power, and fruit.

📖 “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” — Romans 5:5 (NKJV)

Many of us sing to Jesus and pray to Him, which is beautiful, but we sometimes forget that Jesus Christ is no longer physically present in the flesh. The One physically present to guide, empower, and teach us is the Holy Spirit.

📖 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” — John 14:26 (NKJV)

The Holy Spirit is the fuel to our spiritual engine—enabling our faith, guiding our steps, and empowering us to walk the Christian life. Without Him, no believer can fully live out the calling of Christ.
