Daily Bibel Plan – Acts of the Apostels 5 ( Part 2 )

12. Februar 2026

Devotion by Reverend Joseph Antwi

Theme: Raising Spirit-Filled Disciples for the Unleashing Agenda

Opening Exhortation

Praise the Lord, Church.

As we continue our journey through the book of Acts, we are not just reading stories—we are discovering the DNA of a Spirit-filled Church. Acts chapter 5 shows us clearly that when God begins to move powerfully, opposition is inevitable, but obedience, boldness, and divine backing are guaranteed.

Today, I want us to approach this devotion not casually, but intentionally.

Please open your Bibles to Acts 5:17–42.

Before reading, take a moment and pray slowly:

“Holy Spirit, reveal Christ to me through Your Word. Let this Word stay alive in my spirit. This is my weapon, and I receive it by faith, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Now read carefully. Underline anything that speaks to you.

Point One: Success Can Trigger Jealousy (Acts 5:17–18)

📖 “Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him… and they were filled with indignation.”

— Acts 5:17

Church, notice something:

The apostles were not arrested because they failed.

They were arrested because God was working through them.

Success in ministry often provokes jealousy, especially from religious systems that lack the Spirit.

Personal Testimony

Church, let me share this with humility.

When we came to Basel and took on the work God gave us, the Lord clearly instructed us to rename the church Fortified City Church—based on:

📖 “For behold, I have made you this day a fortified city and an iron pillar…”

— Jeremiah 1:18

At that time, looking naturally, there was nothing fortified about what we saw.

Few people. No visibility. Nothing impressive by human standards.

But I remember telling the people:

“Today nobody knows us. A time will come when people will know this church—and when that happens, opposition will start.”

Church, we are not even in our promised land yet, and still we have seen opposition—from within, from religious people, from people we raised, and even from those who don’t know us.

Understand this clearly:

👉 When God begins to work through a ministry, not everyone will celebrate.

👉 Growth attracts resistance.

👉 Revival provokes reaction.

And when attack comes, it is not a sign to retreat—it is a sign to intensify prayer.

Point Two: Prison Cannot Hold God’s Purpose (Acts 5:19–21)

📖 “But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out…”

— Acts 5:19

Church, prison may hold bodies—but it cannot hold destiny.

God released an angel, not just to free them, but to redirect them back to the mission:

📖 “Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.”

— Acts 5:20

God delivers us not for comfort, but for continuity of purpose.

I believe strongly that:

• There is angelic protection over this church

• Over our homes

• Over our families

• Over our obedience

📖 “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them.”

— Psalm 34:7

When God delivers you, it is not so you can hide—it is so you can go again.

Point Three: Obedience to God Above Human Authority (Acts 5:27–29)

📖 “We ought to obey God rather than men.”

— Acts 5:29

Church, this is not rebellion—this is Spirit-led obedience.

Spirit-filled believers:

• Respect authority

• Honor systems

• But never silence the gospel

Even when preaching makes us uncomfortable—whether in schools, workplaces, trams, or streets—when the Holy Spirit prompts, we obey.

📖 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”

— Romans 8:14

The Holy Spirit is not given to make us passive, but bold.

Point Four: If It Is of God, It Cannot Be Stopped (Acts 5:33–39)

Gamaliel spoke words of eternal wisdom:

📖 “If this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it.”

— Acts 5:38–39

Church, hear me clearly:

• Not opposition

• Not criticism

• Not social media

• Not false labels

• Not reviews

👉 Nothing can stop what God has started.

As long as God is with Fortified City Church, Love City Church, Luzern City Fellowship, and the French Assembly—this work will stand.

Point Five: Rejoicing in Suffering Is Proof of Maturity (Acts 5:40–41)

📖 “They rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.”

— Acts 5:41

Church, today’s Christianity loves comfort.

But Spirit-filled Christianity produces resilience.

When a church is truly Spirit-filled:

• It is hard to offend

• Hard to discourage

• Hard to stop

📖 “Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.”

— 2 Timothy 3:12

Point Six: They Never Stopped Meeting or Preaching (Acts 5:42)

📖 “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.”

Daily church.

Daily fellowship.

Daily devotion.

Church, today we may not meet physically every day—but every day you must meet God.

Your room is a temple.

Your secret place is an altar.

📖 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some…”

— Hebrews 10:25

If we want early church glory, we must keep early church devotion.

Closing Prayer

Let us pray together.

Dear Lord Jesus,

I thank You for Your Word today.

Thank You for shifting my mindset and strengthening my spirit.

Help me to obey You boldly, even when it is uncomfortable.

Let me be Spirit-filled, fearless, and faithful.

Give me opportunities today to represent You well.

I choose obedience over fear.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Final Encouragement

Congratulations, Church.

God will use you.

God will send people to you.

God will add souls through you.

Call someone and ask: “Have you done the devotion today?”

Just like the early church—let nobody lack spiritual food.

With much love,

Rev. Joseph Antwi
