Theme: Unleashed for Kingdom Advancement

Fortified City Church / Love City Church / Basel French Assembly / Luzern City Fellowship / PIWC Bern / Global prayer family

Dear Church,

Hello! What an amazing, powerful weekend of fasting and prayer we had last week. The prayer factory is still ringing in my thoughts — the zeal, the unity, and the determination to see God’s Kingdom advance. I believe the heavens are open over us!

I’m excited to announce our theme for November: “Unleashed for Kingdom Advancement.” This comes straight from Matthew 28:18–19:

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

This is the Kingdom advancement agenda — making Jesus known, discipling others, and expanding the Kingdom of God. This Friday, we will bring the Kingdom to the heart of Basel at Fortified City Church, 6 PM. Let us rally, go out together, and share the gospel boldly. Kingdom advancement requires action; it is never confined to the walls of the church.

Awareness of Temptation

After great spiritual victories, temptation often follows. Jesus Himself was led by the Spirit into the wilderness immediately after His baptism (Luke 4:1–13). There, He was tempted, showing us that temptation is inevitable even for the faithful. Temptation is not sin — Jesus was “without sin, yet tempted in every way” (Hebrews 4:15) — but how we respond determines whether it hinders our Kingdom progress.

Types of Temptation

1. Temptation of Lust and Compromise

📖 Proverbs 7:21–27

The allure of immediate pleasure, sexual immorality, or compromise can lead us away from God’s Kingdom. The Bible warns:

• Beware persuasive words: “With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk” (v.21).

• Avoid foolish actions: “All at once he followed her… little knowing it will cost him his life” (vv.22–23).

• Control straying thoughts: “Do not let your heart turn to her ways, the adulteress” (v.25).

💬 Prayer: Lord, guard my heart and my thoughts. Help me stay pure and steadfast in my devotion to You.

2. Tempted to Compare

📖 Numbers 11–13

In the wilderness, Israel faced temptation through comparison, discontent, and jealousy — the same traps that hinder Kingdom advancement today.

• Discontent: “If only we had meat to eat!” (11:4)

Instead of gratitude for God’s provision, they longed for Egypt. As Deacon Thomson rightly said, in his teaching on Thanksgiving, complaints often come from comparison, and complaints rarely lead to good outcomes. Gratitude prevents jealousy and cultivates contentment.

• Jealousy: “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” (12:2)

Comparison can breed jealousy, which poisons teamwork. People may become envious of others’ anointing, authority, or influence. In the wilderness, Miriam and Aaron struggled with jealousy as God used Moses. Moses humbly replied: “I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets” (11:29), and God placed 70 leaders to share his Spirit.

• Pride: “Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth” (12:3)

Humility allows us to celebrate others, serve faithfully, and resist the temptation to envy or compete.

💬 Prayer:

Lord, help me resist comparison, jealousy, and pride. Fill my heart with gratitude, humility, and pure motives for Kingdom advancement.

Personal Practical Questions for Reflection

1. In what areas might temptation be trying to distract me from Kingdom advancement?

2. Am I cultivating gratitude and humility to resist jealousy or comparison with others?

3. How can I actively make Jesus known this week beyond the church walls?

Say a prayer & share with all loved Christians !

Shalom
