Theme: My Job, My Kingdom Assignment

Bibel Passage: Acts 16:1–24
⸻
Introduction
Church family, in Acts of the Apostles 16:1–24, we see how God guides His servants step by step in fulfilling their Kingdom assignment. The journey of Paul the Apostle and his team reminds us that our lives are not random. God directs our paths, opens doors, closes others, and uses every circumstance for His purpose.
This passage shows us preparation, divine direction, and provision — all within the same assignment.
⸻
1. God Prepares People for the Assignment
When Paul arrived in Lystra, he met a young disciple named Timothy.
📖 “He was well spoken of by the brethren who were at Lystra and Iconium.” (Acts 16:2)
Timothy had a very good reputation among the believers. Notice this carefully: God is interested in raising people who have a good reputation among the people of God.
When you go deeper into the background of Timothy, the Bible tells us that his father was Greek while his mother was a Jewish believer (Acts 16:1). That means Timothy did not come from a fully Jewish background. Yet God still chose him and used him mightily in the early church.
This reminds us of something powerful: God can use anybody for His purpose.
Your background does not disqualify you when your heart is right before God.
But notice also that Timothy’s reputation opened the door for him to be selected by Paul for ministry. Your reputation can create room for you in the Kingdom.
Church, we must not mishandle our reputation. The way we live, the way we speak, and the way we behave represents Christ.
📖 “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches.” — Book of Proverbs 22:1
When your reputation reflects Christ, your pastor and leaders will notice your faithfulness and may entrust you with greater responsibility in the work of the Gospel. Timothy eventually became one of the key leaders of the early church. What a blessing.

2. The Holy Spirit Directs and Redirects Our Path
As Paul and his team continued their journey, something unusual happened.
📖 “They were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia.” (Acts 16:6)
Imagine that. The apostles wanted to preach the Gospel, yet the Holy Spirit prevented them from going in that direction.
Later Paul received a vision of a man from Macedonia calling for help (Acts 16:9). God was redirecting them because the Gospel needed to reach that region.
Church, sometimes what feels like resistance is actually divine redirection.
I can personally testify to this in my own life. Before coming to Switzerland, my plans were very different. I had applied to several schools in the United Kingdom and was strongly considering the United States and even the Netherlands because I had a friend studying there.
Switzerland was not even part of my plan.
But the Lord made a very strategic connection through a young man who informed my father about the University of Basel. Through that connection, the direction of my life changed.
Looking back today, I realize something powerful: the journey was not primarily about a school — it was about God’s mission.
God often uses people we encounter to shape our direction. When the Holy Spirit redirects our path, it is because He already sees the bigger picture.

3. God Prepares the People We Will Meet
When Paul and his team arrived in Philippi, they met a woman named Lydia of Thyatira.
📖 “The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul.” (Acts 16:14)
Before Paul arrived, God had already prepared Lydia’s heart. She and her household believed, and she became a supporter of the mission.
But notice something powerful in the Scripture. Lydia did not just say, “I have received the Gospel.” She insisted that the blessing must reach her entire household.
📖 “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” (Acts 16:15)
Lydia was determined that the Gospel would not stop with her. She pushed for her entire household to encounter Christ.
What a powerful testimony.
Church, many of us have received Jesus, but we must carry the same burden for our families. Maybe your mother does not know Jesus yet. Maybe your father does not know the Lord. Maybe some relatives are still far from God.
But when one person in a household receives the Gospel, it should become their daily prayer that the entire family will be saved.
When we ask the Holy Spirit and remain faithful in prayer, God can turn even the hardest hearts.

This chapter beautifully shows how, when we remain obedient in our walks with the Lord, he leads us step by step just as our Rev. Joseph summarized so well : preparation, mission, and provision.
Whatever our past or origins, in Jesus Christ we are new creations. In this new identity we have to live with a good reputation, like Timothy so that we may be used powerfully in the Kingdom.
As Salomon said in proverbs 22:1 a good name is to be chosen rather than great riches.
Holy Spirit helps us and cleanse our hearts.
I emphasize Paul’ s obedience because it is through obedience and humility that we grow in intimacy with the Holy Spirit and learn to discern…
