25. March 2026

Devotion by Reverend Joseph Antwi

Theme: My Job, My Kingdom Assignment

Devotion: Acts 20

Introduction

Hello church family, I’m happy to be back bringing you our daily devotions. I want to sincerely thank our leaders for faithfully supporting this devotional time — God bless you richly.

As I step in again, I would like us to have a short recap of what we have studied so far, especially from Acts 20, to highlight key perspectives we must pay attention to.

The Acts of the Apostles is a powerful journey of the early church, and I want to encourage you today — as you read, give it your undivided attention. If you are in a noisy place, try to pause. If you are in a tram or on the move, focus intentionally.

Don’t rush through the Word.

Treat it like a meal you are enjoying — you wouldn’t leave portions behind in the bowl. Take your time, return to it again and again, and allow the Word to nourish your spirit.

It is not about rushing — it is about catching revelation.

1. Stay Spiritually Alert — Even in the Midst of Light

📖 “There were many lamps in the upper room… and a certain young man named Eutychus… sank into a deep sleep…” (Acts 20:8–9)

Church, the room was full of light, yet someone still fell asleep.

You can be in a strong spiritual environment and still become spiritually sleepy. It is possible to be present physically but absent spiritually.

But we thank God — what the enemy may intend for distraction or shame, the Holy Spirit can overturn.

Through Paul the Apostle, life was restored.

Church, stay alert. Your Kingdom assignment requires spiritual sensitivity.

2. The Early Church Valued Fellowship and Breaking of Bread

📖 “On the first day of the week… they came together to break bread.” (Acts 20:7)

This was not just physical food — it was spiritual fellowship.

• Unity among believers

• Remembering Christ

• Strengthening one another

📖 “They continued steadfastly… in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” — Acts of the Apostles 2:42

Church, your Kingdom assignment cannot be fulfilled in isolation. Fellowship is part of your strength.

3. A Kingdom Servant Holds Nothing Back

📖 “I kept back nothing that was helpful…” (Acts 20:20)

📖 “I do not count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race…” (Acts 20:24)

This is the heart of a man who understands his Kingdom assignment.

Paul lived with intention, sacrifice, and focus.

Church, your assignment is not about comfort — it is about completion.

4. The Assignment Must Be Completed — No Matter the Cost

📖 “Chains and tribulations await me.” (Acts 20:23)

Yet he still went forward.

This is what it means to live for God — purpose over fear, assignment over convenience.

5. Guard Your Life Through the Word

📖 “Savage wolves will come…” (Acts 20:29)

📖 “From among yourselves men will rise…” (Acts 20:30)

Church, we must stay rooted.

📖 “The word of His grace… is able to build you up…” (Acts 20:32)

As I always say:

“Without being built by the Word, you will be broken by the world.” — Rev. Joseph Antwi

Your strength for your Kingdom assignment comes from the Word.

6. Your Assignment Includes Caring for Others

📖 “You ought to support the weak.” (Acts 20:35)

📖 “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Church, your assignment is not just about you — it is about others.

Love, service, and sacrifice are all part of your calling.

Conclusion

Acts 20 reminds us:

• Stay spiritually alert

• Value fellowship

• Hold nothing back

• Finish your assignment

• Stay rooted in the Word

• Care for others

Church, this is your Kingdom assignment.

📖 Chair Time

Read:

Acts 20:1–38

Reflect

• Am I taking my Kingdom assignment seriously?

• Am I spiritually alert or becoming comfortable?

• Am I rooted in the Word?

Pray

Lord, help me to walk faithfully in my Kingdom assignment. Keep me alert, grounded in Your Word, and committed to finishing what You have called me to do! Give me someone to speak boldly about Jesus today without being afraid and help me to lead this person to Christ and my local church In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏
